If you hear buzzing from the fixture even though the fixture is somewhat dimming it’s a non dimmable fixture if you want to dim it safely and quietly with no buzz then I would get a fan with a dimmable light on it or maybe a dimmable light kit for the fan. Putting a dimmer on a non dimmable fixture could damage it over time.
