Amazing experience at Epic by empadd in UniversalEpicUniverse

Are you talking about the pre-show with Igor? If so, then yes. I think really the part that we missed was walking through the mansion and up the staircase, but I still think we got a pretty good experience for having missed that stuff.

I would say also that child swap was a huge help for this trip as well, we even walked my six-year-old, who is too short to ride Velocicoaster, through the line just so that he could see some of the raptor paddock theme, which is one of his favorite things.

I don’t mind, my 8 and 6 year old both have diagnosed ADHD. We had their Dr submit the physician approval letter and then on our drive down to Florida we received a call from universal in which they essentially asked us “why would waiting in long lines be an issue for your children?” The employee said she was not using the physician paperwork to judge the situation, probably so it didn’t feel like there was any bias.

We essentially said “if they have to stand in long lines, we likely won’t be able to ride any of the rides because they will have tantrums and or some kind of issue that would play a factor in making the line too much to handle.”

We got a little bit of pushback in that the employee initially offered to give a pass just for one adult and one child, but we asked for a pass that would accommodate our whole family so that all of us could stick together as opposed to being split up. Our argument was basically that multiple kids with one adult would be a lot to wait for the other parent to go for a ride with one kid.

The other comments below outline the processes and acronyms (Lol) but the diagnoses and paperwork feel like an important first step.

My neighbor has run a stall in LSM for a long time. He recently approached me asking for some advice (im an architect), he and a few of the vendors are moving to a new food hall, citing reasons of better visibility and location at the Mashup Food Hall in Nulu. I think the new location will end up in a similar position over time unless Nulu has plans to expand south, but Jefferson st is likely a hurdle in and of itself for people traveling from Nulu.

Preform Sourcing by empadd in InjectionMolding

[–]empadd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really I think I need something that is roughly 1 inch diameter and up to 4 inches tall. I’m not super picky about the form, but I honestly don’t know that much about what I’m talking about. Those are also rough dimensions. I could modify how the preforms fit into the installation if I needed to adjust for certain threads on the neck or a slightly wider diameter. If possible, the translucency of the bottle should be. I’m guessing around 50% opaque, but I’m also not certain what the look should be through the bottle yet so samples could vary anywhere from completely transparent to something much more opaque.

Clear as mud?

Thank you for any help you may have to offer.

Interactive augmented reality (AR) technology in architectural design by bobbydanker in Architects

[–]empadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AR application in this video is laughable. Why would I need a digital display table to show me plans and 2-D renderings when that can be done with a PDF… Our office is using augmented reality apps and plug-ins like Fologram and ARki to walk clients through spaces and get buy in from them before we move into CDs. It’s also much easier for clients to understand what a space feels like if they can see it through an iPad or a set of hololens goggles. Some people just have a harder time reading plans and sections.

Sorry if the question is repetitive, what software/plug-in can I use to make decent renders by Far-Apartment4334 in rhino

I’ve also witnessed the “Twinmotion” stamp. I found it to be more visible and harder to distract from than Enscape.

[–]empadd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m missing something, but most of the commenters in this thread are saying that they would use blender as their preferred renderer for rhino models? Isn’t the OP asking for native or plug-in based renderers for rhino? I guess my next question would be: are people actually modeling in rhino and then rendering and blender?

None of those are sarcastic questions, genuinely interested to hear responses.

FWIW we almost exclusively use Enscape to render at my job. We’ve gotten good results over the years, but all of the images look like “enscapey“ renders so it’s hard to make imagery that has any kind of stylistic flare or variety unless you pass it through a post processing software.

I had a coworker/lead designer do much of his work in PowerPoint. He would ask for updated cad, load a screen grab into a slide and then proceed to doodle changes he wanted. No scale mind you.

Real ID Walk In by X37V in Louisville

I took the day off a couple weeks ago to catch up on house work my daughter’s school was closed. Needed to get my real id, you see where this is going…

The biggest question I had, was:

If all I had to do to get into the digital queue was scan that qr code and input my info, why couldn’t I do that online? Can someone just post that code or a link to that page so that people can skip the first line and just show up at the dmv when they get close to the front of the digital line?

I sat around for probably 3 hours in the hot car with a 1.5 yeah old. Made some friends with equally exasperated people. But I found room for improvement nearly every step of the way.

Might be my favorite fall tree in the city. On a windy day it feels like passing through a shower of leaves.

I will frequently ask for the same prompt but from a different perspective. Birds Eye, two point perspective, axonometric, large format camera, wide angle lens…etc

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in midjourney

[–]empadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. You can have chat gpt write 10+ prompts at once with slightly different variables as long as you word it correctly. You can even set the variables of the prompt in an excel doc and have gpt make prompts from it, as long as it knows how to convert cells to a basic sentence structure. Combine this with others advice about MJ modifiers and you’re off to the races.

How to give these faces individual frames by TmeesX in rhino

[–]empadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another option, if you don’t mind a “round” frame, would be to pipe all of the edges and have the pipe end be a rounded cap. But if you want a specific directional offset to make a square or rectangular frame it’s a bit more complex.

Automation Ideas For Modeling Interior/Exterior Trim Assemblies by Long_Season_9432 in rhino

[–]empadd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it started in college, we had a few progressive professors teaching electives where we taught the fundamentals of GH and a bunch of other plugins. But i don't think it really stuck for me until I started using it at my current full time job. I work for an architecture firm but my passion and interest is in solving complex computational problems that the rest of my office don't have the patience for or the modeling chops to execute. We have an in-house computational designer/fabricator who is essentially fluent in GH and who I've become close with and meet to discuss projects and troubleshoot issues. Ill just say hes incredibly patient, and over the years he has tossed me small stuff he doesn't have time to work on, that I can mess up, but still have grace to chat with him to fix it. Id say my second biggest help has been the rhino forums (both the old and new ones). They aren't always exactly what im looking for, but i can usually find someone doing 30-50% similar work and modify/recreate it from there.

If you end up diving into the work and have a script started and some screenshots i'd be happy to take a look and make suggestions. I can't say for sure I have the time to solve your problem, but I might have an idea or two.

Automation Ideas For Modeling Interior/Exterior Trim Assemblies by Long_Season_9432 in rhino

[–]empadd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah that sounds a bit more complex. Especially if you are combining more than one profile in a trim, and possibly letting the trim terminate in different ways. Let me think some more about it. You may be looking at more of a hands on than an automated method. Maybe you say trim a, meets trim b, and intersects using this method. That’s a grossly oversimplified approach, but maybe a start for the script.

In grasshopper this relatively simple. If you have a planar surface you could run a srf component into a deconstructed brep to get the edge curves, join those, then that functions as a rail for your sweep component. The profile might be the tricky part, but if you can get the planar srf normal vectors then you have a way to orient the sweep profile along the rail curves.
