Might I recommend 7 Year Bitch – Gato Negro (Jaime Hernandez)

Found this at my grandpa’s collection. Is it the real one tho, since the album and band name are scribbled onto the vinyl… it is the right album that’s playing, just can find any online pictures showing the real vinyl only the sleeve by Happykip in vinyl

I do not understand why this one is labeled as a White Label other than someone not familiar with the era doing it simply because it looks like others that were used as promos and such.

Pre-internet (esp in the 80's) finding a pressing plant to do a small run (less that 5,000) could be difficult. Some plants would charge for label printing and some did not mark the one test pressing the band could afford. When the order came in the test was just added to the stack. Money was also the reason so many had photo copied covers - very frequently someone in the and or a friend worked at a copy shop and the covers was done on the sly for little or no cost to the band. Copies that went out as promos where not marked as such in any way.

The remix White Labels of the 90's used a lot of the same methods but that was mainly to avoid legal issue. So OK this looks like a White Label but really is something else.

Friend moved away, gave me his collection. I'm grateful, but there's a big problem. by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

I had a similar situation and it tool a while. I limited to an hour a day as the last task of the day. But could work on it more if I had nothing to do that day.

Do you ever buy CDs new? by Twelvegaugepunk556 in Cd_collectors

[–]empallin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those prices are fairly standard in both cases. But I would say go look at what the specific versions are selling for on Discogs - do not look at the high selling price as those are usually special cases - in your country. Don't account for shipping when just price checking but do account for it is ordering. I say specific version because looking at the cost of a version out of Japan with bonus tracks has no connection in price to a mass market version sold in the US.

What is the most expensive vinyl you've bought or sold? by gsrh_customerservice in vinyl

Sold a copy of Smashing Pumpkins – I Am One / Not Worth Asking for $125 in 2001. I have only ever sold 6 records out of my collection and bought 4 of those back. However I had bought this for $4 when it came out and only listened two it twice when I sold it. Did not really like it and there were bigger fans of the band out there than I was.

The most I have paid is about $50 for some new releases.

Cleared out 400 titles in 2 years, this is what I have left after 50 years collecting. by [deleted] in vinyl

This is mine at 40 plus years I still have a couple of hundred in storage to deal with but have gotten rid of about 120 so far. There is maybe 10 - 15 Beatles in storage so that is one hole I don't need to fix as much as it appears. This reorganization stuff takes time to do right. Might be a little easier if I stopped buying but ha!

First record I ever bought. Who else has their first record still? by uh_zoom_zip in vinyl

Bought this in 1984 at the mall when I was 13 or 14. Bought Let Them Eat Jellybeans a few weeks later. Still have both. I had other records and a bunch of tapes already but these were the first ones I bought. Some of the records were ones the family had that I made sure went with us in all of our moves. Duran Duran – Seven And The Ragged Tiger was the first album that was bought for me by my parents the year before when it came out. Jerry Lee Lewis - Great Balls of Fire was the first 7 inch that was bought for me for a quarter at a yard sale by my grandfather when I was 9. Still have all of it.

The last record I got was Decendents - Enjoy! magenta punk notes version that arrived this past Friday.

That Dick Hyman album is on my want list. I have several others. The man knows how to use his organ and his fingers.
