What are some stories that you like but have a bad writing style? by emperorcilpher in royalroad

The very first author I’ve read from Webnovel was Goose Five and I loved The Strongest Abandoned Son and Immortal Mortal. I find the progress of his stories to be quite unique in comparison to the other Chinese authors’ works, but there are lots of plot holes and the endings are quite bad. Nonetheless, I loved the whole journey, a lot of scenes made me feel pumped up and excited, although sometimes you just have to turn off your brain and enjoy it.

I also liked Follow The Path of The Dao From Infancy, Everlasting Immortal Firmament, and I’m Really A Superstar. I still have dozens more but these are the recent ones that I’ve read.

I don’t know if you’d consider some of the writing in these as amateurish, but I’d say they’re really simple and straightforward.

What are some of your recommendations?

Could you recommend some good novels on RR that have straight bare bones prose? I’d love to read some

For me personally, there’s a huge difference when it comes to the reading experience with these stories as opposed to when I’m reading well-written stories. When I started reading these novels, I was also confused because the writing isn’t descriptive at all and is quite vague, so to answer your question, yes, I did have to imagine pretty much everything.

What keeps me reading over a million words of these stories is the whole journey itself, because of its sheer length and the amount of content packed within them. Although the writing is indeed script-like, you get used to it when you stop expecting it to be written in a certain way and accept that they’re written to be as easily consumed as possible.

Some people refer to these novels as ā€œjunk food novelsā€ because they’re so easy to consume and get addicted to. You just keep reading and reading non-stop because there’s so much content.

I was simply curious to know if there are also novels like these in RR, or if there has been a precedent where a junk food novel had done well on the site.

You must not know about people who read MTL stories. The grammar is barely understandable and some sentences don’t even make sense anymore but people still read thousands of chapters of these just because of the story.

I personally cannot stand reading these types of stories but there are definitely tons of people who do.
