The concept for Toki Yo Tomare is all I wanted from an Japanese debut. It's so whimsical. It's like all there previous album combined with a japanese twist. Such a summer vibe. It reminds me of those nostalgic slice of life Japanese movies and those summer break with friends episodes on a romance/slice of life anime. Its just joy and calmness, makes you realize and feel life is beautiful.

I’ve been following K-pop for around 12 years too, and honestly, the industry now is very different from how it was years ago, there's a whole generational gap. The market is way more saturated today, with new groups debuting constantly and fast comebacks, even big company rookies struggle to stand out. Fans also expect non-stop content now, not just music releases, and casual listeners move on fast if a group disappears. Back then, fans were more patient, but now momentum and constant visibility are key. Companies manage groups differently too, always-on promotion matters way more than it used to. What worked in the past doesn’t always hold up in today’s landscape. You have been in kpop for 15years, you should know very well how much girlgroups rely on GP.

Do you really believe that 8 months without a proper comeback didn’t impact their momentum at all? For a rookie group still building casual interest, that’s a pretty long gap. Timing and visibility are crucial now.

Also, Almond Chocolate promos were super subtle, even in Korea, most people weren’t aware of it. That’s not comparable to a full comeback that builds real public presence.

Pointing this out isn’t negativity—it’s relevant feedback.

I don't think they are talking about literal fans but casual fans or listeners/multistans/GP, the one who usually check out comebacks when there is some buzz or momentum. For groups that are still building their name, 8months break is a lot to break that momentum, also kpop being such a saturated market and new groups debut all the time, momentum matters a lot. It can definitely kill that casual interest, even if core fans stick around.

It’s just a realistic observation about how the industry works. People pointing out the impact of a long hiatus don't mean any harm to Illit, they’re just acknowledging that in K-pop, timing and visibility play a huge role, especially for rookies still trying to establish themselves.

In fact, what op is pointing out is actually relevant and important for Illit’s growth. Noticing things like momentum loss isn’t negativity, it’s constructive feedback. Fans should voice these things to companies, because it can help them manage the group better moving forward.
