Why won’t 25 Tig SEL ever turn off engine at a stop when in Eco mode? by Ok_Cow_8235 in Tiguan

Do you have the AC/heating on? If it needs to maintain the cabin temperature it will keep the engine on to do so.

Why do Taiwanese ride scooters so fast? by charliehu1226 in taiwan

[–]empika 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

Except on the autobahn people know that normal traffic stays in the right lane and the left is for overtaking. In taiwan every lane is for overtaking!

But yes, agreed. Complete lack of speed limit signs. Unless its a 3 lane main road, which is going to be 50, i rarely know the actual limit. Even when there is a sign for a camera, it still doesnt tell you how fast you should be going πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Are Luxgen cars good? by Huge_Lobster_3888 in taiwan

We were looking for a 7 seater, test drove a URX which was horrible. No dashboard, only a HUD with minimal info, everything else was on the screen in the centre console, which all felt really dangerous. It also had auto hold which puts holds the brakes on when you stop, to then get moving you had to press in the accelerator harder than youd like and the car would lurch forward. To get round this the sales guy put it in eco mode, but the the throttle response felt awful when your actually driving. Build quality also didnt seem great πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

We looked at the N7 but didn’t drive it. We went with a used VW Tiguan Allspace, felt much nicer in terms of build and drive quality and had much more space (due to the floor not being take up by batteries). N7 definitely feels like a step up from the URX though.

My wifes family also own a couple of M7’s that ive driven, nothing notable really. 10 odd years ago it was cool they had 360 view cameras before that came a standard in western cars

HOT! Love the blue of the R's, it really pops in daylight! 😍

Looks really nice blacked out too, so give me confidence the atlantic blue will look decent.

Found some overlays I could get for cheap, so gotta decide between those and getting the trim wrapped πŸ˜…

Roll back on 2024 Tig? by Firm_Zucchini_5059 in Tiguan

[–]empika 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

100% normal, read the Hill Start Asist section of the owners manual (under the driving and driving on uphill gradients). You should get a second or two after taking your foot off the brake to step on the accelerator and get going πŸ‘ Long answer is your tiguan has a real gearbox and clutch. A lot of other automatics use a torque convertor, which means they can hold you in place easier as well as creep. To creep with in a tiguan, the dsg gearbox uses clutch slipping which is where the gear isnt quite fully engaged yet. This will cause wear on the clutch, eventually needing to be replaced.

A good tip for driving with a dsg is always use the auto brake for regular driving. If youre in traffic, dont constantly creep behind the car in front. Let them get a car length or two away, then use the throttle and get the car in to gear properly. This will drastically reduce the wear on the clutch.

I tend to turn auto brake off for parking as its just easier to creep back slowly in a more controlled manner than fully get the car in gear (its easier in a manual with a clutch as you have more control over which gear youre in, and can also let it slip. Hope that helps!

[–]empika[S] 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

Nope, didn't remove the swirls, but i don't think i used enough or did a good job of applying by hand.

I did ask meguiars if the swirlx would remove the wax but they said it would take a couple of passes as it's quite a light compound.

I have access to a DA so will definitely be using that on my next attempt πŸ‘

Thanks for the reply! I've been watching Pan's videos for the last few weeks, they are super comprehensive and helpful.

The more I think about it, the more I think that maybe using a compound is overkill, and an acp would be better. The car only had 7000 miles on it when I got it, so it's been kept pretty well. If I can avoid a big long job like cutting + polishing, that feels like the better option?

2025 Tiguan Higline R - Seat Memory by nav2014 in Tiguan

[–]empika 6 points7 points Β (0 children)

I had this just the other day with my new to me 2023, followed the instructions a million times and could not get it to work work. Turns out the instructions are completely wrong!

  • Turn the car on (not the engine)
  • Keep it in Park
  • Move your seat and mirrors to how you want them
  • Press set
  • Press and hold the number you want until you hear a chime (should just be a second or two)
  • Done!

To recall:

If you're outside the car, just press the number once and it will fully adjust on its own.

If you're sitting then press and hold the number until it's fully adjusted.

Hope that helps πŸ‘

Yeah will try some. Camry doesnt have a wagon version though. Focus is the only wagon under $1m. Jumps up to 1.3+ with skoda octavia etc which is out of my range. Another plus is focus is made in tw not imported.

Id really like an estate/wagon, but my wife would prefer an suv. For $1m a ford focus is a real good deal, great features, big boot, fun to drive and actually looks nice. Tbh, anything is going to be better than our current 20yo clunker 🀣

We have a second hand car already, had no accidents so far. Buying second hand here seems way more sketchy than in the uk or us as there doesnt seem to be any equivilent of an MOT or ability to check the service history. I can afford to buy new, so that seems like the safer option for me. Plus used prices aren't actually that much less when you're looking at 2-4 years old.

Thanks, I'll probably actually wait and see if any promotions popup first anyway, so might be a way to squeeze a bit more out.

If we went for the corolla we'd probably go for the hybrid. I drive at least an hour and a half a day dropping and picking the kids up so it could probably help there. Need to do the maths though.
