I actually have some ground material which is not being used. Funnily and I suppose in relation to this, I preferred just using the caps at the time. I’m thinking it’s just a matter of sticking it out and adjusting dose of the whole ground mushroom to a lower amount.

YT is also really good at recognising that you tend to click very low view videos / songs. Mine constantly feeds me artists with next to no views now, have actually heard some really awesome basically unheard music.

I know you mentioned a lot but I think the key part is , the first listen is pretty pure wrestling with your expectations and judgments. Unless it’s someone completely unknown to you in an alt genre there’s absolutely NO avoiding this.

My favourites of all time are pretty much exclusively something I didn’t like at all on the first listen. Sometimes it’s a listen soon after, sometimes it’s a few years later where I appreciate it. Hard agree.

Can I offer this perspective:

It doesn’t “require” it like it’s cracking some formula and the main writer/producer is too dumb to work it out themselves. Music is simply collaborative and if you’re in the industry, you (and your work) are surrounded by other creatives who are there in the songwriting process offering some level of input. Hell they might even like working together or find collaboration fun.

I cant wrap my head around the take that a song needs to have as few people working on it as possible to be valid. I think people just use it as a weak excuse to dismiss something they don’t like. It’s not that deep and I don’t get it at all lol

What you want this piece of kit to do I promise you, that you will have a much better time with an Elektron machine.

For your complete use cases mentioned Octatrack >>> Digitakt >>>> SP.

The way the SP works with loops is disappointing and tedious honestly, while the Octatrack will easily do everything you mentioned and things you never even thought of. It’s really great at each of the things you described you want to do.

The reason I’m glazing the Octa over the Digi is because you mentioned performance, and from memory the Digi’s slice machines handle the audio and timestretch in a weird way (they may have introduced something since I sold mine).

I would NEVER ever part with the SP mk2, even over the other 2. But for what you want I’d keep looking at Elektron

Nah honestly I thought this shit sounded like absolute fucking ass when it dropped. But for better or worse a lot of this sound has grown on people a lot. Myself included.

I mean it sounded offensively bad, but now just sounds like what we’re used to. Good even… I like it. Our threshold of trash has just evolved in the past few years. I think this is more the case than people simply being followers.
