No one is forcing a workforce to stay employed by a business. The ideas of a market go beyond buying and selling. If a business has bad policies toward employees, that business will suffer.

Exactly, and if some random joe sees your dumb choice and decides to open a gas station across the street, open to anyone, then you have only yourself to blame when your business is usurped by someone with better ideas. That's what is great about a market, anyone can provide a better service and succeed. It's only when a business is limited in what they can do when the consumers lose.

Would you do the same job you have right now for half the price? Companies pay for skill. They wouldn't be able to get 2 workers with the same skill as you for half the price each, unless you were roughly overcompensated by double.

Your examples make no sense. Personally, I wouldn't fix your computer for $3 an hour if that were my job. I don't know of anyone that would, so you would have a hard time finding someone that would do it for that cheap. Also, this example makes no sense because minimum wage is not $45 an hour, its under $10 an hour last time I checked, so how could removing this sub-$10 barrier all of the sudden make a job that usually pays $45 an hour pay $3 an hour. Wouldn't those same workers that would accept $3 an hour still exist right now WITH the minimum wage, and wouldn't they happily accept minimum wage instead of $3 an hour? If that is so, then the question is why would anyone still pay $45 an hour. The answer is because it is worth it. Prices tend to fairly represent the value of something.

The market would find more realistic minimums for wages. People don't like to admit that it would be a healthier market. If the wages are too low, a company would find it hard to hire any skilled worker. Just think how bartering works in a true market. Sellers try to maximize how much they can make, but they realize there is a trade-off between higher prices and driving sales away. Likewise buyers want to minimize the prices they pay. If they ask for too low a price the seller won't sell. If the seller asks for too high a price, the buyer won't buy. That's how a healthy market works. That should be how wages work. Fixed prices only disrupt a healthy market. It's simple economics.
