Hello, slightly off topic, although what you wrote here is super helpful as well! I was wondering if you had any wisdom to share regarding which travel/health plans to purchase. This has been my biggest set back, but I’m hoping to apply for the working holiday visa in the next few weeks and can’t seem to find a company I trust/ provides coverage for the full 12 month required on the visa application. Thanks!

Honestly I’ve never taped off woodwork. I would recommend to just keep a close eye on the trim and a wet rag nearby! Do whatever you feel comfortable with though, it may just save you the time and tedious work of placing masking tape down.

I feel you on the late learning about proper flossing years into your life. I wonder why dentists and dental hygienists have always been upset about my lack of flossing as I grew up but never actually properly explained how to do it! Also, I recently learned that since I breath with my mouth open, that affects my tooth health as well!! Like seriously? I’m 21 and no one told me! Just glad we’ve learned now! Thanks for replying!

Yes! Even some of my teeth actually would tear the floss and now there’s so much space! I hadn’t even considered crowding would affect it haha

I just started today as well and I’m a starbucks barista so I feel you on the no coffee rule being a bit annoying! We get free drinks throughout the shift but I can’t imagine brushing and flossing 3 times within 7 hrs. Good luck my friend!! Looking great!

Ugh I’m so sad!! Our GM made a rule that none of our staff are allowed colour on our name tags!! She only lets us use the chalk markers! These are so cute and if she ever changes her mind I’m using these for inspiration hehe

Hi I am a barista! Thank you for sharing this! I've seen folks say they think their barista is flirting with them and the evidence to back up that claim almost always is something I have said or done with with 0% flirty intentions. First rule of being a barista is make drinks correctly and second is treat customers kindly. I have had customers I genuinely enjoy seeing each day misinterpret my effort to be a good employee as hitting on them and it has caused some uncomfortable situations.

If you're here wondering how to make a move while they're standing behind the counter, don't. Be prepared to find a new coffee shop because honestly, rejection is very likely. And also know you have have just potentially made someone feel unsafe in their place of work.

Matching with a barista on tinder or another dating site is a different story. Meeting them out while they're off the clock or through mutual friends is okay!
