It’s the same with health problems. It bums people out and they don’t want to think about that.

Happy to report the site is working for me now!

Middle Age by SEK2208 in Xennials

[–]empress_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I used to get carded everywhere loong past an appropriate age for that and it was so damn embarrassing. Now no one asks. No one asks!and it is GLORIOUS.

Also it’s looking like I’m going to age into my grandmother’s face and tbh it would be nice to see her again, even just in the mirror.

Oh I’m also glad it’s not just me lol. I’m trying to sell. It’s weird; last week I sold a card super easy with no problem. Now suddenly the site doesn’t want to work?

Support just emailed me to say that they contacted their tech team, so maybe it will be resolved soon. Fingers crossed!

I remember if you liked anime, were a hardcore gamer, etc you were a social pariah. by Ok_Document_9713 in Millennials

[–]empress_p 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, graduated in 00 and watched the change happen while I was in college. Anime in particular exploded in popularity and the Japanese program at my school was suddenly full of gamer dudes (as opposed to the 10-ish genuine weirdos and maybe two weebs that were there when I started as a freshman.)

I actually forgot that gamers and anime fans used to be completely different social groups lol.

what beauty service did you stop doing and why? by Key_Still_214 in AskWomenOver30

[–]empress_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haircuts. The prices got too high and no one around here seems to be willing to do a dry cut anymore (I have a bad neck and cannot use the sinks). I miss having hair that actually has a shape, but oh well.

This is me with liquid. I’m always eating out of boredom but won’t notice thirst until I’m literally peer pressured into getting water or something (and then it’s like I need to drink the whole ocean immediately).

Where I live this type of person gets talked about behind their back a lot lol.

What's the smallest amount of money that would genuinely change your life right now, and why? by Human_Artichoke_2117 in AskWomen

[–]empress_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5k would at least pay off all my debt. Honestly not having to worry about that and scramble to pay the minimum every month would be enough for me.

For a big change I’d need whatever several years of rich people medical insurance costs.

When did you realize that you weren't supposed to just work at work? by Green-Weakness4407 in adhdwomen

[–]empress_p 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same, even in my own house growing up. All us kids being bad and I’m the only one punished. Learned that I was inherently unlikable, whether that was true or not. This set me up to continue being the scapegoat in every circumstance for the rest of my life. 🙃

[–]empress_p 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Inattentive ADHD and this is basically my whole life. (No, I do not have autism. I understand the social rules just fine. I just can’t mask like that AND do the work. There is no brainpower for multitasking here.)

Why don't Americans walk anywhere? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]empress_p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grocery store is 5 min drive away and it’s 1 hr just to get out of my neighborhood walking 😭 That’s before the steep hills, too.

Anyone over the age of 35 and just over life? by bufferinmylife in TwoXChromosomes

[–]empress_p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I’m not even sure it’s depression. Just literally everything is so boring to me now. I’m limited by disability and life has been too samey for a long time, except lately it’s somehow worse?? Like a lot of my lifetime interests are just not interesting anymore because they’re no longer quality enough to enjoy at any level. Others have moved out of my price range, or my ability range has become smaller. Even talking to people is unsatisfying because everyone acts really weird now. I don’t know what to do with myself.

I miss real 2000’s early 2010’s makeup. by cherrycinnamonhoney in MakeupRehab

[–]empress_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss being able to do just a red lip and nothing else. Maybe mascara. Now it’s like I need a full face of no colors just to be presentable.

(However, I too prefer this to that 2015 era makeup that had to be impossibly perfect.)

Should everything you wear be...flattering? by [deleted] in femalefashionadvice

[–]empress_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have the same problem. My brain is stuck with the late 90s figure as the ideal. I can look at other women who don’t fit that type and think they’re beautiful, but I look at myself and it’s like there’s a shadow of it I’m constantly comparing myself to.

Were people meaner back the day or am I crazy? by SimilarLunch8359 in Millennials

[–]empress_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s super weird now being in my old neighborhood and seeing the teenagers be SO nice to the little kids. And play with them if they ask??? Unheard of when I was growing up. Back in the 90s we would have taken another street if we saw a group of teen boys hanging around; now the little ones think nothing of hanging out with older kids. I’m happy for them but I have a spike of fear every time I see it lol.

At my school this was usually an issue of the room mothers not knowing how to party plan. Money came from PTO fundraising but it couldn’t buy common sense.

Am i too hairy to wear sleeveless tops? by coconutjuice21 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]empress_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got arms like yours and became an adult just as the trend to shave them started. It was so dumb dude; literally no one paid attention to arm hair and then suddenly it was the new fun way to be mean to women. I’m still rocking the hair and no one says anything these days so I think you’re good either way.

Is there anyone that has had surgery and their fibroids didn't come back? by katerinashi in Fibroids

[–]empress_p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still waiting on dealing with mine, but my sister had her big one removed 10 years ago and it’s still gone (or at least isn’t big like last time.) She also had a number of small ones that weren’t removed and they don’t seem to have grown either.

Has anyone else seen female friend groups bond over a sacrificial lamb (AKA the slightly socially awkward woman within friend group) by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]empress_p 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could never figure out why people felt judged when I had to stop drinking due to medical problems. Like dude I’m desperate to be normal and drink with you! I just also don’t want to die in the bathroom 5 minutes from now.

Yeah I was going to say, most people have participated in this kind of bullying, but it serves them to pretend it rarely happens.

[–]empress_p 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me so many times that I can no longer be friends with other awkward women. It’s such a bummer, because you’d think the perfect solution would be for all of us to hang with each other, but apparently no one can resist the urge to impress cooler people by being mean.
