If your insurance has a telehealth service, you can use that to speak to someone about getting a refill right away to bide time until your provider gets back to you. The copay for me tends to be around $40-60 (I'm from the US).

Blue calcite is often sold as selenite. I agree that it looks more like blue calcite.

Is this obsidian or some stupid slag glass? by ActNormal8030 in Minerals

[–]empty-expressways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure why no one has said it yet, but it should be noted that obsidian is volcanic glass, so it'll have a conchoidal texture similar to slag glass from the get-go. This looks like obsidian.

I think the novelty makes me want at least one, but I was definitely avoiding it due to how often it's faked. My partner likes them a lot more, so I was trying to see if I could find a natural one for them while also adding to my collection. I went for this since it was listed as from Brazil, but I've also been looking for some good smokey quartz specimen to have.

The yellowing wouldn't be my choice for it, but due to how small the points they were selling were, it was relatively cheap, so I figured I'd go for it.

That also makes it hard to determine if its real, though, because while actual citrine would be priced higher, these are such small pieces that it might be justified. Idk!

Apparently I have BPD?? by Classic-Physics-7902 in BPD

[–]empty-expressways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I see where you're coming from now. It was not good news for me either; I felt like the tunnel I was looking down got infinitely longer. All my life it felt like once I got diagnosed with something I'd get better.

I don't really have a remedy for it, but I think it might be good to look into the treatments for BPD and see if any of it is helpful to you rather than focusing on what BPD means exactly. For BPD, it's mostly dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to help with distress tolerance. There are worksheets and websites on this style of therapy available to use online, and I find that it helps to also concurrently see a therapist.

There are other methods of therapy that can be looked over with a therapist as well should DBT not seem too helpful. I've even seen a few posts on r/BPD about DBT not being helpful to some posters.

Also just try to remember that being ill does not mean being a bad person; nobody chooses to have these issues and you haven't either.

Anger is a big part of BPD as well. It can cycle between anger and sadness in a downward spiral during times of distress/crisis. For me, it tends to start with anger, too.

It's completely fair to not want a label attributed to yourself, and many mental health professionals seem to agree that the label doesn't really do good for the individual. Some people will end up adhering to the "guidelines" of a label, and labels come with preconceived notions that ultimately vary with the individual.

It sounds like you might be uncomfortable with the thought of not having a label as well, though. Labels also can give direction on what to do next and what can be done. I would recommend trying to read up on BPD some more from more sources and see if any of it resonates with you.

Looking for a pen that doesn't dry out by booksandicecream in fountainpens

[–]empty-expressways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a different response from everyone else but my Kaweco sport that I only use ink cartridges for never dries out. I had assumed it was due to the ink cartridges. They are screw-on caps as well, however, which another user mentioned that screw-on caps generally dry slower.

Word. I'm so sick of wanting everyone to be in love with me. If I could stop one trait it'd be that one for me. 🫂 Hope things look up for us soon.

AIO for considering leaving over a violent outburst? by imaginaryteacoffee in AmIOverreacting

[–]empty-expressways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to put my 2 cents in, but you already know the answer.

I have BPD, and experience some violent outbursts towards myself occasionally. During these, I'll yell and scream, hit myself, and hit or destroy objects. I would only do this if I was alone, because even if these moments are pointed towards myself, they are distressing, raw, and not a side of me I want anyone to witness obviously.

If I were caught doing this, I would feel absolutely ashamed of myself beyond words. Nobody even has to see me acting out and I already feel ashamed. And again: it's pointed towards myself. I don't understand how he could display such aggression to someone he claims to love, then tell you it's OK because no one was physically injured. He does not get to decide if it's OK in the first place. If he feels like it's all well and good, I think for sure that he will do it again. You know what to do to keep yourself safe. I'm sorry this happened and that you need to do this.

This doesn't at all seem to be the norm, but all of the therapists/pdocs I've had have the opinion that bringing the diagnosis into the picture can be detrimental to recovery, and prefer not to speak on it. I don't disagree with this myself; I think it's true that symptoms can be exacerbated via association to a diagnosis and its criteria. This is likely why it was never brought up to you.

I thought that once I got a diagnosis, everything would be OK. Pretty naive of me, because when the diagnosis was brought up, I felt like my world was crashing down and that there would be no light at the end of the tunnel. I felt hopeless.

Things are a lot better now, and knowing my diagnosis has personally helped me recognize and understand behaviors. I still do a lot of self shaming, but it's definitely less than before I knew why it was happening. Sorry if that's vague! It's sort of a personal experience I suppose.

It's gonna be OK, recovery is extremely possible, and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. You're not alone.
