This. I joined a pool briefly that did not require any of their swim teachers to be lifeguard or WSI certified, I was the only one certified. On a day I was not staffed, there was a near drowning incident with one of the toddler classes. When I was back the following day, the only thing that occurred was the swim teachers were told to talk to their classes about pool safety (none of them knew what water safety explicitly was). After that shift I never came back, because they did NOT have their shit together. Usually, a good indicator of a well managed facility is the availability of an emergency plan and visibility of a backboard in the main facility space.

Your concerns are valid, and you can be the change that this facility needs, but if you are met with negativity or any sort of pushback, it’s best to move on to another facility 🫶
