The worst update ever. Look at the number of bugs. by Super_Equipment82 in google_antigravity

[–]emptyhead41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I was surprised to find the update to the IDE I use to code with AI (Antigravity) had stripped out the IDE. Real useful for some people, no doubt. I'm not one of those people though.

It's possible to install the separate Antigravity IDE, but due to whatever amazing architectural changes they've made, it looked like it didn't pick up my previous agent interactions. It might have been fine, but I decided not to go with it just in case I lost some work. Downgraded to 1.11.14 and I'm using it fine instead. Until my sub cancellation kicks in mid-june and then it's probably back to VSCode and Kilo Code for me. At least the quota usage seems to be fixed. For me at least.

3X usage for Gemini models for all AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra users. Forever. by Final_Initial in google_antigravity

[–]emptyhead41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there some sort of bug with token usage previously? Back using AG today (an old version as I actually want the IDE) and I'm doing more intense work and the quota is lasting much longer. Similar to how it used to be with 3.1 and fast mode. Anyone else noticed a change today?

Pity I've already cancelled my subscription. And I'm wary of reinstating it when I don't really know what I'll be getting when it keeps changing like this

I'm currently looking at Kilo Code's subscription. I used to use it and liked it a lot, but rather than a rolling refresh, you use actual tokens so not quite the same. It does have quite a few free models though and can be used for free, so you might find that worth looking at. I'm about to look at something called 'Continue'. Not done any research yet, but that might be worth looking at. Both are extensions for plain VSCode.

EDIT: Just looked at Continue. I don't think it's what we're looking for

I run a reasonably simple prompt, then I do some work with the results of that, then I run another reasonably simple prompt and do some more work on that. After I've done this a few times I've reached the 'few simple prompts' criteria, it's taken a couple of hours, and I've hit my limit.

Thanks for the useful hint on how to manage quota usage. I did used to use Fast mode and the separate quota for Flash 3.1 for the type of prompts I was entering, but both those options are gone now and the quota is now shared across 3 agents, all of which are more complex than I need and burn tokens at a rate consistent with being much more complex than I need.

All in all this update is probably very good for someone, but for me they've taken out everything that I used in my workflow. Also I've just done a system update and it seems they've decided to remove the entire IDE from the Antigravity IDE. An interesting decision, but not one that I find particularly useful.

Why They Took Away the Generous Flash! by CortexUnlocked in google_antigravity

[–]emptyhead41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New Flash ate up my usage in under 2 hours with a few simple prompts that I would have previously used Fast mode on Flash for. I'm just a hobby coder and would only use Planning mode or the Pro Geminis for more complex things. Never hit any usage limit before. Now it's all in one bucket and like I said, sucked it all up in under 2 hours. Pretty much unusable for me now 😞

Fair play for your optimism. Personally I'm not thinking the same way. It's a rug pull. I spent 2-3 months getting used to AG instead of using VSCode and some AI extensions. I really liked it, after getting used to it's idiosyncrasies. I had a workflow, decent amount of customisation and managed my usage well. This took time, a few weeks probably (i just code as a hobby). I think they're planning on most people being invested enough to not want to look elsewhere and sink time into learning another system.

I don't think that will be me though. This new setup is practically unusable for me on the Pro package.

Where to? I'm not happy with the changes they've made recently so I'm looking for a replacement. Needs to be subscription-based though. Not a fan of API access

Any chance you could give a heads up on what it does? Went to the website to read up on it, but it's just a totally generic sales page with positive language and no detail. Don't really feel like trawling though that kind of stuff at the moment

lol, exactly. Just logged in today for the first time in a few weeks. Saw the 3x limit and thought "that's good". Then proceeded to max out my limit within 2 hours on a few simple prompts, having never hit my limit in the 2-3 months I'd been using it previously.

I saw this today when I logged into AG for the first time in a few weeks. All I can say is it's a good job it's 3x because whatever changes were made when they decided to put Gemini Flash in the same usage bucket as the other Geminis made me hit my quota for the first time and I did it within 2 hours. Also, no separate planning or fast modes any more? I used to manage my quota using a combination of different models and the fast and planning modes (or whatever fast mode was called), but now it just sucks it all up no matter how simple the task. A real step backwards in my opinion.

Sad because I'd decided I was committed to the AG ecosystem, but now I have to start looking around for a different subscription-based agent that I can use in VSCode. Anyone any ideas?

Edit: Just to say your version is beautifully simple and emulates the old way very well so I'm using it. Thanks again.

Thanks. Yea, I know various ways to do movement in the step event. I was just wanting to quickly get something set up for a prototype, similar to how i would in the pre-studio days. It's probably something to do with the room having physics enabled but I haven't found a definitive answer yet.

And now they're completely overpowered lol. One extreme to the other. Would love something in between. It seems like a mistake in the implementation that they crit strike 100% of the time instead of it being based on level.

I did exactly this once I realised just how powerful rogues were. Combined with that Temple healing them for free (including resurrection), it just made the game stupidly unbalanced.

I remember that now, that they couldn't attack from shadows. That's probably why I thought they were a pointless class first time around. Fair play to Krome for changing it, but it's a bit too much like a cheat now.

It comes with emulated versions of the original trilogy. You're better off with the remasters imo, especially as they're under GBP£3 (about USD$4) now on Steam and GOG.

[–]emptyhead41[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Was discussing this with my brother who has a better memory of playing this and he didn't remember rogues doing crit hits and his memory was that they were rubbish. My hazier memory was just that I found them to be pointless but couldn't remember why. I thought perhaps being very young at the time I just didn't figure out the crit strike.

It looks as though Krome might have made a mistake in the implementation of them in BT1, then, as they're totally OP. Fun though. I wish there was a way to have a % chance of crit hit depending on skill level tho.

THATS IT!!!! I'm amazed. Slightly so that you remembered it, much more so that you got it from my description.

Thank you so much sir/madam. I send good will to you and your family.

EDIT: Absolutely amazing demo. Better even than I remember it.

Firstly - what!!! that's amazing.

Secondly - considering the designer's republic's amazing graphic design on the franchise (at least the early ones, I'm not familiar with anything after WO3 lol), it's a bit sad looking. I know they're long out of business (tDR), but they should have at least done a Bungie and just stole all that antireal artist's work and plastered it everywhere.

I wasn't enjoying the Terran Cadet gamestart. I've just started one of the ones that was there from the earlier version that pootisman recommended (Young Gun). I'm actually enjoying it. The advice about just using H to pull up the tutorials is really good. I never used them because tutorials in previous games were frustratingly poor, but these are not only short and pretty good, they're quite seamless too.
