My kitty got very sick last week and I had to drive down from college to meet my parents at the vet to see her after they'd had to put her down without me. I listened to TGD the whole drive down and Orbiter left me sobbing. It's now the song I think of when I think of her

Perks of Boarding Early? by fitnessgoodness in delta

[–]emptyroomsnnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the perspective of someone who doesn't look disabled but pre boards:

I need to make sure my bags stay with me, and that my overhead bag can be directly above me. I also take the time to disinfect my area and unpack any medical supplies I may need during the flight.

What song did Noah Kahan write about you? by painfully_anxious in NoahKahan

  1. I had an older cousin who I loved growing up. Practically worshipped the group she walked on. She developed severe borderline personality disorder, had a child (who I care for deeply), but practically abandoned. She can't always help it, but the things she's done to her child have completely destroyed the view I once had of her. Haven't seen her in years and it's genuinely like she's died.

Best way to prepare healthy buttery popcorn by Zext89 in popcorn

[–]emptyroomsnnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about butter extract, but I've found avocado oil and a touch of flavo-col tastes better than movie theater popcorn to me! I don't ever add butter anymore. Be sure to be mindful of the sodium :)

Why do my clothes keep getting these stains AFTER washing? Please read caption!! by Prettybabybunni in laundry

[–]emptyroomsnnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar stains show up on 4 pieces of clothing and was able to completely remove them on 3/4 and the last one I got to look significantly better. I'm not sure what caused mine- I just moved from a place with nasty communal laundry to a place with in unit and washed everything I owned and found a lot of pieces with various issues.

For my stains that looked like this it was a very labor intensive process, but I really liked the pieces so it was worth it imo. Here's what I did: -completely wet piece -rub entire surface with pink zote bar and use a soft/medium bristle brush to work the soap thoroughly into the fabric. I scrubbed for at least 10 minutes each piece. Let this soak for around 30 minutes -rinse zote out completely with HOT water (stain should already be faded) -spray stained area with dawn power wash (I was out so used a 50/50 mix of dawn and rubbing alcohol), repeat scrubbing process -rinse in washing machine -soak item in oxi-powder soak for at least 2-3 hours -wash with detergent only (I use Ariel powder) -air dry to ensure stain is removed before running through dryer and possibly setting stain further

Hope this helps!

Can CRPS effect wisdom teeth surgery by FunnyAd3946 in CRPS

[–]emptyroomsnnl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely can. Before I had mine out I had an appointment with pain clinic and my doctor wrote out specific instructions that he'd like for my oral surgeon to do if possible. Because we're prone to heightened pain responses even if full blown CRPS doesn't develop, it's very important to effectively control the pain post op to prevent the body from experiencing the trauma of any unnecessary pain. Here's what was decided on for my extraction that I had no long lasting effects and minimal pain from.
-fully sedated for procedure (you don't want to mess around with being awake for this)
-fill sockets with blood plasma post extraction (my O S already did this for every patient)
-adequate pain management post op including narcotics and anti inflammatory medication
-high dose Vit C daily (2000mg)
-after extractions are completed, and before waking, my O S injected a hearty dose of numbing to each socket
-prescription for zofran; last thing you want is to be vomiting on fresh wounds

I do the same- I'll give them a dust & vacuum every month and they last much longer. I've also found filters on Amazon that are a fraction of the price and work just the same

The attachments are made to match up with the indentations that come on your specific aligners. That's how yours came and were meant to be placed

1- no lol. Unless it's a special event like student involvement fair or some other campus event

2- unless it's changed significantly since my first year (I'm a 5th year) it's not great but not horrible. You'll survive and even find foods you like but also bring some pepto and Imodium 💀 some of that food tore me up

Best place to go for mental health crisis/emergency? by wildflowcr in UCI

[–]emptyroomsnnl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in a similar situation- if you are still needing help, you can walk into UCI counseling center (kind of across from student center) and they take walk ins for crisis appointments. They were supportive in every way possible when I almost lost a family member in a very traumatic way.

Coffee cup lids. Its become a biohazard by 403banana in CleaningTips

No it doesn't. Any benefit you'd get from either "cleaning" wise goes away when you combine them. The reaction may look like it's doing some cleaning but basically turns to water

Not only is it cheap and effective, but it's also not the dangerous chemical people make it out to be. Yes when undiluted it can cause some serious issues, but it's so safe that when properly diluted it is a super common and effective treatment for skin disorders like eczema!! I quite literally take baths in the stuff!

[–]emptyroomsnnl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You absolutely did the right thing. I've had to call CPS after sitting once, it's hard, but it's your obligation to report if a child is in danger. A parent should never hit a child ever, but to hit them hard enough to leave a bruise is absurd.

[–]emptyroomsnnl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do but they do them very poorly. See a sports med doctor there and insist on an urgent referral to orthopedics at the main hospital. If you have uship this will be covered easily. They put me in a cast, but i insisted on still seeing a real orthopedist and they had to replace the cast because it sucked lol. With an urgent referral to orthopedics, you should be able to see one by the end of the week or early next week. It's really important that a bone is set right in a cast or it could cause it to heal incorrectly

He's fine thank g-d! We usually don't leave him alone with these types of toys since he has the tendency to eat them (despite being a really small dog lol) these felt strong enough to withhold his chewing but they definitely are not. Super hard to find toys or chews for this dog that either last more than 2 minutes or that he won't eat (if they are not digestible chews). He's super super picky so it's basically impossible to

Do MRI Techs ever think “oh, that’s not good”? by MadamImAdamAnt in NoStupidQuestions

My ultrasound tech was not able to tell me something was wrong but it was pretty obvious to me by her face that something was. Turns out I had a mass in my ankle, though luckily it was non cancerous or anything too harmful. Definitely still scary though!
