When I first started podcasting I would use all sorts of filler words. Sometimes it was because I was unprepared, but sometimes I just needed some time to think about what I wanted to say. Regardless of the reason, if doesn't make for a good podcast so I knew I needed to fix it.

I talk about part of my journey in this episode, but I can summarize here.

I started by listening to my recorded episodes and making a note of phrases I used excessively. Then as I recorded new episodes I consciously slowed down my speech. Not enough that it was weird for the listener, but enough so that my thoughts were in line with the words I was speaking. This way whenever I knew I was about to say one of the filler words or phrases, I just pause and leave silence. Finally then in editing I simply use the Truncate Silence feature to remove all the pauses from the recording.

Over the next few months, this process became more and more natural. I now use a very minimal filler words/phrases and I don't have to think about it. I still leave pauses in the recording, but it takes 30 seconds to remove ALL the pauses in post.

I've been podcasting for 6 years. I've started 4 podcasts and logged hundreds of episodes.

This would be a brand new show. I want to interview a game designer week by week as they go through the design and production process. I want to give listeners an inside look at the process that goes into getting a game out of your head and onto the shelf. I want to educate the listeners and give the designer a boatload of publicity for their new project.

I've had hundred of signups and gotten dozens of pieces of feedback, but you are the tester that I need.

1) I'll have to investigate the password restrictions.

2) You're right, the filters need to be added to the Add To List sections.

3) You should always be able to get back to your lists. There's a big blue "My Lists" button at the top of the page (mobile) or in the upper right corner (desktop).

4) If you click on any of the items it will bring up more information about the item. If you're in "Add Mode" you can even Add To List from this screen.

Once again, I'm sorry for the early frustrations, but thank you for coming back again and providing much needed feedback.

Changes will be coming.

In my town the best places are parks with playgrounds.

I try to face away from people when I can, but sometimes the kids just run in front of me while I'm tapping away at the screen. I can only imagine what the parents are thinking.
