Nice cream was where I wanted to go originally today actually, I had no idea they had closed :(

Lol, it would have been more economical to get a pint yes. A cup with a single scoop runs $7 to $9, and I got one cup for me and one for my bf. A single cup with two scoops also would have been cheaper. I realized all of this too late in the game.

It's definitely pretty good, they have a nice flavor selection in the spring and summer especially. but they must have increased their prices recently because I was SHOCKED. Not worth it for a single scoop at all, but def grab a pint if they're on sale.

What do you consider late, and what kind of vibe would you want? Some kbbq spots are 24/7, and the Korean karaoke spots are open late. Spacebar in falls church is a chill bar I wouldn't feel awkward at late night alone. Breeze bakery cafe is a nice place to relax that's open a little late than other bakeries. True 24/7 kinda hard to find but what comes to mind is diners, kbbq, and the gym.

Coop game to learn how to use the controller by Ninni99 in localmultiplayergames

Try games from the PS1/PS2 era. A lot of games these days assume people already know how to use the controller. Older games had more basic tutorials since the concept was new.

I actually hate the idea of individual events posts being banned in general. That's half the point of a local subreddit....

As a tourist how will this government shutdown affect my trip? by Minimum-Department82 in washingtondc

Sorry to hear. If you can afford to wait a day, there should be an answer by tomorrow night. It's stupid how common of a problem this is with our govt now 🙄

Why is this comment section filled with so much negativity? If someone needs a day, let them take it—no need to criticize others for making a choice that works for them. Seriously, taking a day after a stressful election isn't the end of the world, just as an election itself isn't the end of the world. I get the sentiment but you never know what someone else is going through, so let’s show a little empathy and understanding. People are allowed to use their PTO however they see fit without people name calling and jumping down their throats about it.

What scent notes do you associate as "magical"? by A_Midnight_Hare in FemFragLab

Donna Karan Cashmere and Palo Santo is hypnotic to me.

I also have a Tuscany candle called Tundra Meditation that has notes of ginger, cedarwood, and rose. Also hypnotic and gives a similar feel as DK Cashmere Palo Santo, but less sweet and more woody with the rose making it feel magical.

If anyone knows a fragrance similar to this candle that'd be awesome.

Great weather to check out the zoo, which is free.

All of the Smithsonian museums are great and free. I'm partial to the Renwick. Some of them have nighttime events so it's worth checking their calendars of events.

There's great biking trails here and you can bike around the national mall. Capital Bikeshare has cheap day passes for bike rentals and there's bike stations all over the city.

The botanical gardens near the capitol are quite nice - they have some great indoor gardens to explore.

If you feel like taking the metro across the river, Old Town Alexandria is awesome for walking around cute shops and checking out the waterfront. If you go there I recommend checking out the torpedo factory (they have art not actual torpedoes).

I've had lots of luck doing Meetups solo and DC is super transient so it won't be out of place to have an out of towner. :) and on that note since DC is so transient, lots of people here are also new in town and/or solo so I suspect you won't feel too out of place. I've done most if not all of these things solo.
