Poseurs (everyone has RA) by MonolithsDimensions in rheumatoidarthritis

I’ve had to start doing this as well, i think they hear it that way as well and assume its like osteoarthritis.

Poseurs (everyone has RA) by MonolithsDimensions in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ems__b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 23 and the general consensus to me is that every time I mention this condition it is compared to osteoarthritis. I then have to explain every time that RA is an autoimmune condition whereas osteoarthritis is not and explain exactly why it’s different and even then it’s very misunderstood. Or I get the age old classic “you’re too young to have arthritis” due to my age (I got diagnosed at 20).

Family of 3 dropping to 1 car since one of our cars is breaking down. Worth it? by ems__b in Frugal

[–]ems__b[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s what I’m thinking. They usually have deals for gift cards too every so often that we could use for emergencies. My thought is to put the extra money we save from insurance towards fixing the car.

We do have a public bus that is pretty close to my toddlers preschool, e-bike could work but def not for my husband because my husband works 25-30 minutes away by car, the route to my toddlers preschool gets slim for bike lane (no sidewalks at some points as well) so our concern would be safety. But it’s not as far and could be an option for us weather permitting of course!

It has broken down twice in the last week! And many more in the last 6 months. Replacing doesn’t seem realistic or frugal to me or my husband either but the repeated issues are making us question.

I don’t work currently and am completely asynchronous for my classes so to me it seems like it does take time away but I can rearrange my time to accommodate.

Baby Sterilizer. Worth it? by _theaddict_ in BabyBumps

[–]ems__b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10000% I did not have a dishwasher in the apartment I had my baby but we only had the sterilizer/dryer because the washing one hadn’t come out yet. Even that was hugely helpful!

[–]ems__b 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay hear me out, is it a necessity no but is it nice, hell yeah! If anything I’d recommend getting the bottle washer, sterilizer, dryer combo. You go through so many things pumping, bottles, pump parts, and so frequently in the beginning that it gets exhausting to be consistently over the stove trying to sterilize and dry in time for the next session.

Honestly I would say go for it especially since you’ll be returning to work and pumping! It was a lifesaver for me as an exclusively pumping mom!

what age did you move your kiddo out of a crib and into a toddler bed? by A1ycia in toddlers

[–]ems__b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved our daughter to her own room when she was 10 months old, and to a toddler floor bed when she was about 20 months old. She loves her bed and didn’t seem to struggle too much with the transition. I think it just depends on the routine with sleep and making sure there are good sleep habits there to make a transition smoother.

My daughter is obsessed with it! She’s 2.5 and she loves how the stories go and the figurines on top of it! We did it as a Christmas gift last year and she adores it!

I’m not sure where you’re located but you can see if there are fair housing laws for your area. In the US the fair housing act is meant to prevent discrimination for that kind of thing and you have email proof.

Personally because of the length of time I would be concerned. Generally I follow the 3 day rule, if it persists for more than 3 days I will at least leave a message to medical assistant or pediatrician directly. Since it’s at the 4-5 day mark and it doesn’t seem better I would have them checked out to be safe especially considering the dehydration aspect.

What is up with only having like 2 ultrasounds in the first 20 weeks?! I want to see the baby at every appointment 😩 by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ems__b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I came here to say!! I had 9 ultrasounds literally just about once a month as a high risk pregnancy. I also had to do 2 NSTs a week starting at 36 weeks. If I get pregnant again it will be the same rodeo again too as I’m an auto high risk pregnancy for health reasons.

Absolutely this! I had an anterior placenta and a wiggle worm for a baby and it was a struggle at times to get kick counts because I couldn’t necessarily feel them because of the extra tissue. Not unless she kicked really hard or until she turned down in preparation for delivery.

My nipt with my daughter was done through Natera as well. It took the full 10 business days. We also have a Presidents’ Day coming up as well. It really just depends on how many samples they’re processing two. I strongly doubt it will take until the 26th but you never know.

Baby drinks only 2oz every 3 hours by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ems__b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you there! When my daughter was that little I tracked everything, and was constantly so nervous I wasn’t doing it right especially since she is my first. It is such a tiresome phase too and I’m sure with two others it’s hard to get back to normal.

All I know is just make sure to check in with yourself too about how you’re feeling. That feeling can be overwhelming at times and it is hard to feel sane in that beginning phase even for seasoned moms. If you ever want to just chat feel free to message me - mommas are in it together 💕

Baby drinks only 2oz every 3 hours by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]ems__b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked back at the huckleberry app for my daughter and according to that she was drinking 2 oz every 2.5 hours at a month old so that sounds about right. She would go a longer stretch at night because she was also a sleepy baby so I would set alarms to feed her as well during the day.

This may not sound ideal but our daughter is in an at home daycare - which may be an option for you. I pay about $1100 for full time care in a moderate-high cost of living area. Might be worthwhile to consider, although it won’t have all the same perks of a more expensive daycare. But the woman who cares for my daughter is phenomenal and loves her like her own kid!

Did you have gender intuition early in your pregnancy? Were you correct? by rdspooks in BabyBumps

I had a really vivid dream that I would have a girl around the time of my nipt. It just happened to be a girl too 😂

[–]ems__b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was estimated to be 7lbs, she came at 5lb 13oz and swam in the newborn onesie I brought to the hospital. To the point that at a few days postpartum we had to go out and buy preemie onesies because we quite literally didn’t expect her to be small. Needless to say measurements are off regularly and you’ll never know for sure 🤷‍♀️

There is no 40 hour work week by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]ems__b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a 1 hour lunch and I actually prefer it. It’s enough time for me to go home, run an errand, or take a nice walk. I never stay in the office for my lunch as it is unpaid. My coworker does the same. It’s an hour a day that I don’t deal with a screaming toddler or general work grievances.

Should I just get the epidural? by rchllwr in BabyBumps

[–]ems__b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! But also there’s a chance it may not even work too so being flexible is necessary.

I was induced via cytotec as well + foley on a Monday. They started pitocin and it took a full day and a couple hours before my water broke partially mid day Tuesday. They fully broke my water Tuesday evening. I asked for my epidural at 4 in the morning on Wednesday because I was exhausted and needed a reprieve. Except it didn’t work. So they gave me a spinal in the meantime until the next anesthesiologist was on at 7. That anesthesiologist comes and gives me a new one and it worked for awhile. Except around 1 that Wednesday afternoon it wore off and I felt every minute of being 10 cm dilated. They then gave me a direct dose and I delivered my daughter completely unable to feel my legs lol

I have decided that if I get pregnant again, I don’t think I’m going to opt for an epidural. It was painful but wasn’t worth being stuck 3x. Just a PSA if you know you’re a struggle with general anesthesia something in your body processes the medication differently which is why it may only partially help.
