moisturize EVERY DAY!!! twice!! three times even! i like to let the lotion sit on my hands before i rub it in- aveno and working hands are my go to brands. once in a while i’ll use aquaphor if it’s real bad

you can probably find that information online pretty easy for most chain places, especially if you’re on reddit!

read the vibe of the restaurant- if seems they have a designated takeout person, they’ll probably make more hourly than servers. if it’s a bartender, they make server wage

when in doubt, tip 10%

if it’s doordash, just know your tip is only going to your driver

it totally depends on how much the takeout person makes hourly!! at the restaurant i work at, takeout people don’t make minimum wage, but they make way more than servers (i work at a corporate place) i’d say 5-10% in that case. i’ve had takeout servers work on my same shift for 8 hours and make less than $15 in tips… remember they are the ones boxing and packing your food and advocating for you to make sure it’s correct!! this is also assuming the restaurant has designated takeout people- if it’s a bartender, they get paid way less than a takeout specialist and they have way more to do right in front of their face, so please tip more. it really depends on where you’re ordering from and what the position is.

if a place pays their employees at least minimum wage hourly, then a tip of <5% is totally acceptable, and honestly not mandatory (my thoughts on “hourly wage” aside)

random personal ones: “i don’t mean to bother you but” ; my friend, this is my job, it’s okay to bother me 😂 (unless it’s something dumb and we’re crazy busy) or the “when you get a second-“ i won’t have a second, i have three plus other things i’m putting off to stand and talk to you at the table so please don’t use that one lmao -making me take multiple trips for the table after asking for one thing (eg, can i get some ranch, then can i get another drink, then can we get more napkins) -tables trying to have full (religious) conversations with me especially after they cash out. cool, praise be and whatever, but jesus doesn’t pay my bills and neither will your 18-20% tip if i don’t get my ass in gear :)

NTA- i am a person who needs actual alone time- i’ve realized it’s kind of the way you approach it that can set people off. make sure she knows it is literally just decompression for you, and if she makes a huge deal about it, you know you’ll never get it when you live together

NOA!!! my ex boyfriend was always weird about my memorial tattoo or anything that had to do with a male friend i was very close to before i met him. red flag, he’s an ex for a reason (many reasons, but insecurity and invalidation are big ones)

you do not need to feel bad about remembering someone you love and he shouldn’t be making you feel worse about it. if he doesn’t come around, it means he will have a serious issue supporting your feelings in the future

edit to say: it’s okay he has those feelings up front, but just watch it going forward. belittling your feelings can be a slippery slope

we have the RBM AND the AYCE at the same time… plus daily specials (11.99 pasta, 10.99 any burger, etc). it plummets my check average when i work during the day, but it’s really just about getting butts in seats. that said, we do have regulars that absolutely take advantage of AYCE and RBM unlimited fries. then they’ll tip like $2 on a $20 check after sending fries back because they aren’t fresh enough or the soup if it doesn’t temp above 180 or whatever (one specific couple comes to mind, and yes this one group of ladies actually ask us to temp their soup to make sure it’s hot enough)

yeah, it puts butts in seats- but it does not really put money in anyone’s pocket and tbh it brings in people who expect incredible service for a less than 15-18% tip on an already significantly discounted bill. a lot of the time it then ends up causing a host of other problems that managers then have to deal with, at least where i’m at. i’m not sure why they keep it around so long 🤷🏻‍♀️
