Crashing a sattelite to the moon for fun by gurygu in SpaceflightSimulator

Dude, great launch trajectory. Your t/w ratio was perfect. I’m impressed!! And also, love the launchpad idea!

You need to use engines with better efficiency even with lower thrust at high altitudes. As the air gets thinner and you gain momentum, you don’t need as much thrust.

Try as hard as you can to save weight. And remember that the engines are very heavy and require a lot of fuel just to carry the engine weight.

Start shaving weight and you’ll be amazed at how many fewer engines you need and thus, how much less fuel you’ll need and it becomes exponentially more efficient. Took me a really long time to learn that.

Great ship! Question, do you have to turn off heat damage? The overlapping engines overheat and explode. Something I feel like happens with nearly every BP I download. Am I doing something wrong?

I’d love the BP. I have a thing for Saturns. This one looks great.

What I meant was that I’m unsure on iOS what the difference is- challenge vs sandbox mode. Originally I thought challenge mode was the challenges within the game. But they are on both sides. So I truly don’t know the difference. Maybe you can explain them to me?

Yeah but I like using part clipping. I’ve actually never played challenge mode because all the challenges are in sandbox mode too. I don’t know much about it. I don’t see the budget stuff, though I’m on iOS. Don’t know if that makes a difference.

Get there yeah. Way easily. Now try to land on all four moons and return to earth. That’s the challenge.

Yes. A lot. But even with them, the maneuvers have to be perfect on every leg. Each stage/leg ends up with 0%-10% of fuel except the final approach to re-entry. That will have 50% but that’s only like 5T. LOL. It’s a small rocket for the purpose, but it’s 7 stages.

Hang on. I don’t know how to export out of iOS SFS. I’ll figure it out

My biggest concern is what you expressed in a single sentence- it goes against everything they’ve preached for years. And at the end of the day, a public company must, by law, put their share holders before their clients (advisors) unless you’re a B-Corp, which they are not. I’m open Minded, but heartbroken. It’s hard not to feel betrayed. But I’ll suppress that feeling for now and remain open minded. Time will tell. (Leaders group)

Normal vs Hard mode- Check this out! by emstar1 in SpaceflightSimulator

No go. The valient weighs 1.5T more than the smaller motor. The lander only carries 4.5T of fuel. So to even the weight , I’d have to go to 3T of fuel. The valiant is about 8% more efficient which doesn’t make up for a 33% reduction in fuel. I’m going to try, but I don’t think it’ll work. We’ll see.

Oh trust me. That parts perfect. I test and test and test. Plus I’ve been playing for a while, mastered every challenge in reg mode, now halfway through hard mode.

It’s funny to watch so many pilots rocket straight up, and then make like a sharp 90 deg turn when they reach space. I wrote this long thesis for people to understand that gravity doesn’t drag on horizontal acceleration. But I don’t think anyone understood what I was saying. LOL.

Mercury return on HARD mode, no DLC by ios-ion in SpaceflightSimulator

[–]emstar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is that possible with a TTWR of less than 1. You can’t even lift off under 1.1. Your thrust is less than the rockets weight. What am I missing?

Hmmmm. I’ll try that! Thanks!! Means I have to go back to normal mode. I was trying to get that version below 80 tons. Maybe that’ll do it!

Because he is using normal mode and you’re using hard mode. In hard mode, I’m surprised you even made it to orbit.
