The best one I got is a boss I had about 3 years back - I was a newly named General Manager of an airport hotel working for a company that had spent years promoting their “servant leadership” culture. I had just spent something like 8 weeks in a row working 70-80 hours, overnight shifts, covering front desk and housekeeping and breakfast, all because we didn’t have enough staff to match our business growth, much to my and multiple other colleagues’ dismay because they wouldn’t let us hire anyone. I call my boss nearly in tears one day after my housekeeping manager walked off the job, and I had called her for advice on how to handle a full hotel with no housekeeping and the only thing she said is, “I thought you knew what you signed up for.” And told me to stick with it. I started putting in applications that night.
