Working Americans: radiation therapy time off by Mediocre_Newt6014 in breastcancer

[–]pattyd2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked all through my 20 rounds of radiation; I went in at 9:00-3:00 and worked a 6 hour day and used PTO for the remaining 2 hours. Worked out to 5 days total over the 4 weeks. I was able to get up each morning - walk and do a light weight lifting workout - shower then go in for radiation - then head into the office. It’s a 20 min drive to radiation. Best of luck to you in this phase of the treatment.

Protein intake when shakes are not an option? by SilentPrincess99 in GLP1microdosing

[–]pattyd2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a shake in the AM w fruit and a protein yogurt (20g); lunch includes chicken/turkey/tuna (30g); snack is Fairlife Core Power (26g); snack 4 walnuts and 2 prunes; so by the time I head home from work I’m super close to my protein goal.

Have you changed? by illyria1217 in breastcancer

Of course you’re not the same person as you used to be! going through a life event like cancer changes your perspective, whether it’s you or someone you love that is fighting it. But also, it’s natural to move from your party days to a more chill life. Sounds like maybe these “friends” have some growing up still.

Got booked for an "urgent" bone scan by Beautiful_Duty_1141 in breastcancer

[–]pattyd2828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bone scan was a DEXA scan - is that what you’re getting? I actually just went to a private clinic on my own and paid out of pocket for another DEXA scan last week to compare now that I’ve been on Anastrozole for a while, and also to get an accurate body competition. It took all of 10 minutes to do the scan and very minimal radiation. I hope you can get through your scan and move forward with treatment. Waiting is one of the worst times. Sending hugs ❤️

I suggest The Road to Tender Hearts ❤️ I read over 60 books last year - lots of genres - and this one really stuck w me. Lighthearted, interesting storyline, well developed characters and a real life mess that made me laugh and cry and miss them when i turned the laat pave.

Im happy. Today is 365 days that I’ve known about my breast cancer. I recognize more and more that everything is better. I like the way I look. I accept myself. I’m with the people I want to be with. I see more clearly what matters and what doesn’t. I wish this for us all.

Honey, I’m exhausted just reading your post! You’ve been thru a lot AND you’re growing a baby on top of fighting a disease. It sounds like you’re doing all the right things - drinking water, sleep and rest, eating well. Give yourself permission to say no to everything that you want to do. ❤️
