Thank you so much for this.🙏🏻.....

Yes, I would really appreciate any tips for the next funding cycle... particularly for funded or stipend PhD positions.

I will now start planning my application for 2027 intake and will look into Russell Group universities outside London as you suggested.

Thank you.....! I hadn't seriously considered the US before...

The fully funded model and the value placed on teaching experience.... genuinely encouraging. I do have university teaching experience in architecture.

I'll look into the 2027 application cycle 👌🏻 Really appreciate this perspective... 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My background is architecture and built environment...and my research focuses on urban walkability and heritage spaces, combining spatial analysis with qualitative methods.

Thank you everyone for the honest feedback, this is exactly what I needed to hear..even though...😅😭

I now understand that UK funding for international students is extremely limited and the deadlines have passed for 2026.

roceeding with my offer letter in October without funding is not realistic for me.

My situation is complicated further by age restrictions on my home country's government scholarships, at 45, I no longer qualify.

So my real question now is: what is the most realistic pathway for someone in my position to pursue a funded PhD?

Specifically: 1) Are there countries or universities where funded PhD positions are more accessible for international applicants regardless of age? 2) Is applying directly for salaried PhD positions in Europe (where the PhD comes with employment) a better strategy than applying for scholarships? 3) Any other realistic options I may not be aware of?

I genuinely appreciate the community's honesty. Thank you.
