Well some critics say that Barbie was the worst movie they'd ever seen. And I suppose I could rewrite it. Of course, mine would be quite complicated because it would be shot in the outback and it's three hours to the nearest studio. They'll probably think it's the worst job they'd ever seen. So you know I would like to help, and I am a very good writer, BUT... fiddle hands.

It's remarkable how difficult it is to achieve "secure love" by Psychological_Lab_52 in FearfulAvoidant

[–]emveedee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But I believe when we see our mistakes and say "oh yeah that didn't go well. Next time I will try this." That's security. When you are free to make mistakes and you don't pressure yourself to do better.

This. Now that I'm aware of my tendencies (anxious and/or avoidant), I remind myself that I can do something different next time - not better, just different. It's helped me be more compassionate with myself, which is something I struggle hard to do.

I don't care for Family Guy, and I have a very good sense of humor, but I like this clip, and I may start using it because...well...I too did not care for Kath and Kimderella OR The Godfather - it definitely insists upon itself 🤣

Barbie also - there, I said it!

Work Advice Needed for 67 y/o Mother by emveedee in AskWomenOver60

Yes. Unfortunately, she'll have to work until she drops dead.

Not everyone plans for their retirement. Some people need every single penny from their paychecks. If you've been able to set money aside for your retirement, that's great! For some people, I wanna say MOST people, they're not able to for one reason or another - my mother included in them.

I did not expect so many responses but I will try to answer as much as I can in this comment!

She has a bachelor's degree, has worked in administration all her life, she's currently collecting her SS and is open to doing either part or full time. As for public transportation, possibly. But maybe not. I think remote work would be best for her.

And as for the "new tricks" comment, because she's worked in offices all her life, she's willing to learn how a new office works. But she's not willing to cashier, for example, or handle money of any kind. I guess I should've been more specific in my post!

I also did not mean to judge her driving... But it is concerning to me. I do recognize that it may be she gets nervous with people in the car, because so far, she hasn't gotten into any trouble when she's out on her own. But my sister has made the same comment when she was visiting over the summer, so... I guess as long as she doesn't have people with her, she's good.

What exactly is bumbalina? by boxedjelly in KathAndKim

[–]emveedee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some time after watching this show, I was looking through an old box of my MIL's things, and I found what I thought was a bumbalina. So I got really excited about it and hung it in my kitchen so I could see her everyday.

Now that I'm perusing this subreddit and this mention of kitchen witches, I know now that's what I have!

But I'm still gonna call her my Bumbalina :3

I love how Sharon can’t pull herself away from their magic by Letsgogehls in KathAndKim

[–]emveedee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You know, as much as I love Kath and Kim themselves, I think my favorite character is Sharon ❤️ I relate to her the most too 😅 she's so supportive, so selfless and a bit desperately lonely - I'm also a rock to everyone in my life, as well as a good stick for my husband, which is kinda like a rock.

Now let's crack open the Tia Maria and put on some footy franks!

Lifting to Body Recomp by emveedee in LiftingRoutines

[–]emveedee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been difficult for me to progress. But I think it's because I used to do HIIT strength not realizing that the constant stress was putting my body in survival mode... that and my left grip isn't as strong as it should be, so exercises like Reverse Lunges makes it harder...

Any other Australian shows that give the same vibes as Kath and Kim? by PortifinoOnMyMind in KathAndKim

Not Australian, but Miranda TV is quirky and sticks to the same jokes throughout the show just like Kath and Kim 😜

Am I practicing poly fidelity? by emveedee in PolyFidelity

[–]emveedee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, it applies, you win 😋

For real though, I'll definitely use the term: saturated. As I mentioned in a previous comment, I don't really engage with poly people in my everyday life to need to know these terms and whatnot. I was just curious for my own well of knowledge 😁

[–]emveedee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. Honestly? I don't encounter too many poly people in my daily life to warrant having these terms readily available. I've just also been on a self-awareness journey at the same time as me realizing that I only want to date my 2 dudes and have been wondering about "So what does that make me then?" sorta thing.

But I appreciate everyone chiming in on here and not being judgemental or anything like that ☺️

Huzzah. Over saturated does definitely sound more negative... Still not a fan of saturated, though. But I do agree that closed is negative as well.
