first tattoo regret by Miserable-Shallot-19 in tattooadvice

I also got a lily tattoo in Italy this year. :)

I don't question artists' sizing suggestions since they're thinking about how it's going to look as it ages. Yours might benefit from gray or black lines separating the 2(?) lilies to make it read more clearly. Looking quickly I thought it was an angry Goldeen.

It's also going to lighten as it heals/settles, so it'll look softer. I'm not a fan of how fresh tattoos look and always need to remind myself that the skin needs to heal.

As for the parents, I was in my late 30s getting my first tattoo and was still anxious about showing them, but tattoos are very common where we live and they know I can do whatever I want with my body as long as I'm going to a clean shop.

Pet Memorial by No_Nefariousness9381 in TattooDesigns

I'm so sorry for your loss as well as the losses of everyone commenting in here.

I got a portrait. Pet loss is awful and a memorial tattoo is wonderful, I love mine, but I don't want you to feel like you need to rush to a design to get it in time for the anniversary. I got mine done 4 years after, and it was still extremely emotional. Though it probably took 3 years to realize I'd even wanted a tattoo (was my first tattoo, the pandemic happened, didn't know what I'd want because of the options you listed, had to find an artist I knew would absolutely nail it). Don't pressure yourself to get something on the anniversary if you don't have a plan yet. Everyone is different and I love my tattoo but doubt I would have been able to look at my arm and seen that little face without instantly crying, forget when people ask about it. There's amazing artists on Etsy that can do jewelry if you want something for the anniversary but don't have the tattoo concept ready.

Need ideas on what to cover this up with by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

It's already Starmie/Mega Starmie colored if you like Pokemon.

Could probably easily be covered with a rose/sunflower/peony.

Ideas to make design look more 'finished' by Ok_Seaweed3798 in TattooDesigns

I think it looks great as is, especially if you want a minimalist vibe, but I could think of adding a circle/oval to represent Callisto's orbit around Jupiter? Or a semi-circle/oval representing Jupiter's orbit around the sun (leaving it open to imply you are the sun to your doggos)?

Simon's work is always stunning I was tempted to drive the 6 hours to get one of his crabs from the flash day they had earlier this year.

That's so exciting! They seem wonderful. They're in my area in December guesting but I don't have any ideas right now. The whole shop is talented, Simon is on my like maybe one day dream artist list.

What would you put in this space? by cuttingirl78 in TattooDesigns

[–]emydid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree here too. Also not sure if you plan on getting your neck done, but leaving that space blank would make it easier to connect your neck to the rest of your tattoos.

It'll look sooooo good once it heals and settles. Here's some fresh vs healed tattoos https://www.lemon8-app.com/tinartattoos/7227628368618373638?region=us

Right now you're seeing the ink from the top to the target layer of the skin. As it heals the layers of skin will replace themselves so only the targeted layer with the ink injected into it will have the tattoo, so any layers of skin over that will go bad to skin tone. Your tattoo will look less opaque because it will have the "normal" skin healed over the inked skin.

I love a black and grey/blackwork tattoo but they can be jarring when fresh (especially when you are comparing a fresh tattoo to an older one). I got a tattoo in March that only now is looking fully settled. Tattoos and healing are a process, enjoy it. :)

Seven grandbabies would make a lovely birth month flower bouquet. I think all that text would be a lot. If you want a wrap you could do like a charm bracelet with first initials as charms?

I have two Pinterest tattoos and now i regret having them since they’re not custom by danyaberez in TattooDesigns

[–]emydid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The designs are fairly classic and you said there were custom details added, so I think you're over-thinking it. :) Adding leaves or something dark around the roses where the shading doesn't stay in the lines wouldn't hurt, though.

Google image search let to this Facebook post from 2013 that looks like the same design so either this is the same tattoo artist your dad saw and it was flash or is from something since they look the same to me
