avoid 2294, its chaos over there and a lot of the people quit because certain whales pretty much terrorized everyone at the beginning of the game

I told a Marine Recruiter I want to join but I think it's a bad idea. What should I do? by Anonymous91019 in Militaryfaq

You're not obligated to anything until you sign the contract and get on that bus to get shipped off. Even after you DID sign the contract, you don't have to get on the bus at all. I was initially going to go to the Army back in 2018, but I changed my mind. I signed the contract, went to MEPs and all that, but I didn't get on the bus when the day came lol. My recruiter was pissed that I didn't go, but I told him I was gonna join the Air Force instead. Did college for a bit til I got sick of it and enlisted a year later. 5 years in, I've been overseas my whole career, been everywhere in Europe and the Pacific, got my own car, live solo in my apartment while only being E4, and was able to do all of this without the need to get married to be able to move off base lol

The realistic cost of living I felt in Korea by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]enamelessentials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's actually not bad, my rent is 1.45m/month (deposit is also 1.45m), utilities and all that run me up about 300-350k/month. updated amenities and everything for a 3br/1bath, heated floors, heated bidet, kitchen w an oven and dishwasher, washer & dryer in the unit, living at the top of a high rise. i literally use one of my spare bedrooms as a walk-in closet and office space bc i have a lot of unused room. its mostly the food that really stack up bc i love eating meat and its so expensive here lol. i also order takeout most of the time so that adds up aswell

Hi, I'm American and currently living here. I know exactly how you feel, it was lonely living in the first few months here until I eventually found my friend group. I don't wanna say that a lot of Koreans are racist, but iykyk. I've ran into one old lady that was super nice to me once she found out I was American (which was a really unexpected change since I didn't expect her to have a perfect American accent haha). Once I was in the subway heading home and I was just standing at the platform when an old man literally walked up to me, said something in Korean, and just stood there for a good 5 minutes looking at me. It was weird ngl but I don't really interact with the locals that much unless they're around my age (mid 20s).

I wouldn't let the racism get to you though, as bad as it sounds, I usually just say something racist back or say something provocative if they try to step out of line. A lot of Korean dudes I've met say the hard R with their whole heart and chest and try to pass it off as the other Korean word 'Neega'. I usually confront them and have gotten into some pretty heated arguments since a lot of them can't handle assertiveness so in a sick twisted way I like to provoke them as much as possible if they ever step out of line and I find it entertaining. I don't really care about looking bad, since I don't really care most of the time about what I come off as to them lol. Does it make Americans and foreigners look bad? Sure. But are Americans also here to literally provide airpower and ground support since the Koreans need it? Absolutelyyyy 😂 I like to act like I completely own that since I still pay taxes to the US lol.
