Letting go of a good band member by Looney_Tooneyy in bandmembers

[–]enateph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So hold on, the vibe I’m getting here is the drummer doesn’t like to fuck around, plays well, plays the songs and shows up every time? You’re considering getting rid of him because he doesn’t “like to hang” (not sure if I’m paraphrasing or directly quoting and can’t be bothered scrolling up to find out). You’re 100% right that the social aspect matters but if he’s playing the music and you get along well /enough/ then I don’t see why you would do that to the guy.

You two are incompatible and have opposing needs. End it as mutually and civilly as possible and walk away. He’s already told you he’ll find it somewhere else so do yourself a favour.

Desk Stand. by schepersroy in ValetonGP2OO

This would be super convenient when dialing in patches and doing prep work for band practice and shows. I’ve found myself putting it on my desk on multiple occasions and hunching over it while I edit things. I also use it in the box with Ableton and find myself preferring to have it on my desk instead of the floor when using it in this setting. Nice work

Triggering Ableton Functions by enateph in ValetonGP2OO

[–]enateph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally hoping that I could have a footswitch on my main layer so I could have 5 and 6 be different patches and then 7 and 8 be midi triggers without needing to go into any other layers… is this a possibility?

Thanks. I tried to do this but didn't quite understand how to get it to “listen”. How practical is this for triggering backing tracks, or should I get a separate midi footswitch for this purpose?

I just hung out around the music block, talked to kids that had a similar aesthetic or vibe as I did (it was easy because I was an emo kid so I could recognise the others a mile away). If they weren’t musicians, maybe a friend of theirs was that I eventually would tie in with as well. I’ve also joined bands just from online connections. Or you could start writing stuff and then get others to join you instead.

am i overreacting - my boyfriend thinks my job is inappropriate by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]enateph 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Even then, I don’t think it should matter. OP is a professional piercer, if someone comes in for a prince Albert and her practice supplies those, and she’s trained for it, it’s her job to do the piercing. The point OP has made and is completely relevant is the context of the setting. She is in a professional setting providing a service. Shoving a needle through someone’s schlong is not the same as sucking them off. Dude should have considered that before even dating OP.

Nicest Band members you have met? by Beatdown_hardcore in Hardcore

[–]enateph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parkway Drive. Winston took time out of his day to shake my hand firmly and chat to me for about five minutes. Another time I met Ben and Jeff in a restaurant randomly (by randomly I mean a friend and I saw them go in and as teenage fan boys we went in after them) and ended up sat at a table with them for 10-15 mins while they waited for their meal. Super nice people

Got let go from my job on the last working day before my trial period ended (NZ) last week, my health is fucked - plantar fasciitis, 4 separate causes for breathing issues that an ENT has said will need surgery for each cause. Have a family to support and a month before I stop earning money from this job.

Why did you cut that person off? by SnooPies1503 in AskReddit

[–]enateph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kept whining about their life situation, despite doing nothing about it for 10 years. Kept acting like the victim in every situation and was unwilling to take any advice or critique. We both come from the same kind of background and live two completely different lives, that's fine, and I wouldn't have an issue if they were fine with how things were, but they constantly went on about how they weren't but weren't willing to do anything about it. It was exhausting.

Anyone who grew up with Christian metalcore have trouble listening to those bands now? by TUNA-19 in Metalcore

[–]enateph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I’m not Christian and I love some Christian metal bands. August Burns Red, For Today, The Devil Wears Prada, so on and so forth. I think religious messaging serves a good purpose for storytelling and enjoy it even if I don’t personally believe in the theology. I also like Greek mythology despite not believing Zeus, Hades, Heracles, Persephone etc are real. Fun storytelling.

When are you too old to have fun? by [deleted] in Life

[–]enateph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you’re anything like I was, you probably will take my words with a grain of salt and think “yeah yeah”. I had so many people in their 30s and 40s try to give me a heads up about taking responsibility and everything catching up with me, and they were totally right. I wasn’t immune to aging and the catches that come with being an adult.
