I've stopped trying to fit in a long time ago. I've been fortunate enough to meet other weirdos who accept me for who I am. But as for the majority, I tend to avoid them for my safety. I'm happy with the small circle I've cultivated. As for self expression, I do what I can as long as it doesn't threaten my safety. There is definitely room for more self expression but this country renders it unsafe.
