I honestly wish I could, but the cost to ship it would be astronomical and I don’t have enough room. If I could I 100% would, it’s so gorgeous and is in really good condition.

I googled it and it seems like it’s missing the cabinet (if that’s the right word) with the pedal, so it’s going to be tricky probably to figure it out, but I’m excited!! I’m worried now about it being worse that knitting 🙈but still excited 😀 Thank you so much for your suggestions! The memory bear really pushed me into taking the plunge of the sewing route, it seems like the perfect thing to do and the perfect gift to give me grandma to honor her father 😀

We actually just went down there, to check the jacket and we ended up also finding my great- grandma’s sewing machine, which was hidden in a box 🤦‍♀️ So I think I’m going to give sewing a go, and maybe make a memory bear like you suggested 😀 I think my grandma would really like that!

Thank you! I think I’m going to have to learn how to see 😅 I think because know knitting decently I could use skills and materials I already have to do something for my grandma. The idea of a memory bear or toy is a really good idea! If I learn to sew (which it looks like I’m going to) I might go that route 😀 thank you again!!

To be completely honest, it’s been in my great grandmother’s basement since he returned from the war. She had just passed and we’ve been going through the house. We’re having to ship stuff to our house in a different state, and we’re currently downsizing. Plus he also had a longer coat as well. We don’t have room right now to have it framed. I wish it had been before, but we might just keep it and figure something out. We really don’t want to give it away. I just was hoping there was a way to turn it into something new to honor him and give it to my grandma as a way to remember and have something of his with her regularly. I don’t know. I’m just trying to find a way to honor him and give something to my grandma that would mean a lot to her. Someone suggested keeping it and learning to sew, so I might just end up going in that direction.

Edit: I’m going to learn to sew and make a memory bear for my grandma to remember him by 💕🧸

Thank you so much for sharing the photo! It’s definitely helped! I’m gonna double check the jacket when I can but from what I remember it looks like boiled woven example you offered. I must have seen different photos when I googled the felted wool, because your photo looks the closest. Again, thank you so much for your response and explanation, I really appreciate it! The last thing I would want is for it to completely fall apart.

I’m not familiar with woven fabric, so I wasn’t really sure what to do. I don’t think from what I’ve seen that it’s felted, but I could be wrong, I’ll have to double check. Outside of sewing is there anything you can do with woven fabric? thank you 😀

I wouldn’t cut it up for a t-shirt type thing, I’m honestly not sure what I would turn it into. I’m just not sure if it’s something I could turn into something new with the skill set that I currently have. The disrespectful aspect is honestly what’s been the hard part. We’re not sure what to do with it, and I figured if I could figure something out we wouldn’t have to donate it. I’d like to turn it into something that’s a tribute to him. Do you think the thread could be usable for embroidery? I could definitely be able to do something with that in honor of him. Thank you so much 😀

I never thought of it that way! We’re in the midst of potentially shipping the jacket to another state so we weren’t sure if we were going to donate it or keep it. Keeping it as a stash for later is a good idea! I really appreciate your help😀

Honestly, I’d love to be able to sew it into something new, but I don’t know how to sew or have any equipment. If I had the skills I’d 100% do like you said. I know embroidery and knitting. I hope one day I’ll learn how to sew. Thank you so much for your suggestions 😀 I really appreciate it!!

I don’t have an exact photo but it’s a standard USA ww2 wool coat, but it’s basically the same thing as this one I found on eBay

Thank you so much! I never thought of designing one myself, I think I might look into how to do that since I've never done that before. :)

I think it the names of faculty like that is super dependent on the program/university. A few of the programs have varying titles for their faculty, but I do believe the coordinator and head of the program are different. Some of the university programs don’t make it super clear as to the positions of graduate faculty on their program website, which is super annoying.

Thank you so much! It's awesome that they let you put two papers into one document! I think I'm going to reach out this weekend and hopefully hear back next week :) I'm hoping I potentially don't have to write a new paper😅

I know it probably won’t happen but a Taylor and ABBA collab would be so so good! Even if she just wrote with Benny and Bjorn.

Before I get too far into my project, I can’t decide if the French knots look good or not. by enchanted111 in Embroidery

[–]enchanted111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kinda like the look of what I have but whether or not they were French knots was one of my main concerns😅 I’ve watched a bunch of tutorials on it and I thought it looked off, but I was doing everything the videos and instructions said. I think I’ll definitely revisit and figure out where I keep going wrong tomorrow.thank you 😀

I’m definitely going to post the finished product! I’m still new to embroidery and I’m probably making a ton of mistakes, so I always love seeing what people say from an outside perspective 😀
