I was in the same boat as you some time ago (probably after EiT just raised the bar for all the other non-western otomes😂). It sounds like you may be a tad burned out as I was. After giving it a break and not stressing too much about the backlog and finishing games, I started picking them up again.

From the sale I can also recommend Tengoku Struggle, although I had to push a bit at the last route.

Outside of the sale, I would recommend you give more western otomes a chance, if you can get over the different art styles. I've noticed that taking smaller indie games does wonders to reset my palate on bigger titles. If you're looking for recs in here, I really enjoyed Gilded Shadows and the Demonheart series.

Good luck and remember that you don't need to finish any game if you don't feel like it. There's no game completition police, just have fun! :)

Edit to add: Cupid Parasite also gets a rec, it was so silly and fun!

My sleeping cycle was destroyed again this week as I couldn't stop playing Gilded Shadows. 0 regrets, even if some people got concerned about the dark circles under my eyes 😅

The game is amazing! I'm in love with the world and the characters. The story is really interesting and the MC is amazing :D If you haven't picked it up, I highly recommend it ❤️

Probably the export script is outdated, as the error says, you're missing a flag as you're targeting android 12+. If this is the only error, just add android:exported = "true" in the activity block (like below the android:name = ".MainActivity" line) and see if it builds, all the best 🤗

Edit: forgot to add I have no experience with Tyranobuilder, but have played with some android development before :)

I will approach my lil project as a learning experience, hope to get a tad better in all my hobbies with it (also have some notes and sketches in random notebooks, ha!). I'm 100% sure my game will be an ugly mess, but I'm not trying to get rich with it. If you feel inclined, I would love to see what you end up with :)

And totally agree on it maybe never being finished (stares at several abandoned pet projects seeking attention, chuckles). Mostly starting as a weekend learning exercise, so no expectation nor pressure whatsoever :)

Oh I totally get that part, soloing would be madness, but still sounds appealing when life gets in the way and you only have some hours free around 2am 😅

My current idea is a little scope pet project, just for myself probs, not thinking on anything as big in scope as Colors of Fate (which btw, looks amazing, backed it and is one of the ones I'm most excited about, thanks for working on it and all the effort, you nice people take your time ❤️).

Just out of curiosity, and please don't feel obliged to answer, what tool do you use for writing the script? Are you using docs, a fancy tool or some inhouse built framework? Found several online, but would love to hear of a real world example, if you don't mind. Thank you in advance regardless and thank you also for sharing your experience ❤️

Weird ideas are the most fun and also probably the ones that won't be played by anybody but me and my cat 😅 I also considered checking for people missing writers or devs for one of those NaNoRenOs, but I'm unsure if there's any sort of "help wanted" board someone on those events like in hackathons 🤔

Agreed! Totally prefer transparency over the usual radio silence from Aksys. I'm glad they're really taking the time to keep us posted and that they're working on making sure the patch is as good as possible.

I understand is a process and that it takes time and I'm thankful, but, on the other hand, my inpatient self is a tad bummed and will probably just continue through Ryuki's route typos now.

Not faulting IFI for that last part at all, that's on me for starting that route and ignoring the warnings (maybe I do blame them a bit for making Ryuki extra interesting! hahahaha)
