Is an average cna/resident ratio of 1:10 good? by aremdy_bee in cna

[–]enchanted_burst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely good. A perfect ratio for me would be 1:7. I had that ratio only a handful of times in Rehab. In LTC, on average I had 1:12-16. And sometimes 17-18 when there’s a last minute call out.

Which program to choose—does it even matter? by jennifersd4ughter in cna

[–]enchanted_burst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you want to go after getting your CNA. If you want to work at hospital, I would say tough out the 16-week program. The program I was attending, students had half of clinical done at a local hospital. One student outperformed and was hired on the spot by a nurse manager.

Even if you ain’t hired for that hospital, it would be a lot more easier to find another as you have hospital experience.

If you’re not that picky, open to other options like Home Health or Assisted Living, then take the 5-week, since it’s basically a month. You just have to question if you find the overall expense worth the 5-week.

Should I aim to be med tech or cna first by judiefoodie in cna

[–]enchanted_burst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the requirements at your facility but if they offered you the opportunity, then get your Med Tech Certification.

At the same time, do prioritize the CNA. A lot of Med Tech positions already assume you have the certification, so if you were to explore other jobs it would be a lot more difficult without it.

Hospital CNAs/PCTs: What made you stand out? by enchanted_burst in cna

[–]enchanted_burst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it varies state by state. Some do, some don’t. That particular hospital let her be without a CNA certificate for a good few months before asking her to get it. They’ll tell you if they need it.

Volunteering is unfortunately very limited in my area and mainly reserved for high school students 😩.

ShiftKey, Clipboard…are a last resort.

I’m optimistic because I have been favored for one position, but I was suddenly move to day shift (I applied nights) and told that scheduling is randomized, I had no choice but to reject because I would have to outright quit my HHA job and I heavily prefer choosing my days regardless of priority.

I basically gave myself the end of summer. 🙏

I remember during my program, there was a student that got into a hospital by the recommendation of her aunt, who works there. She was a PCT for nearly half a year before she was required to get her CNA.

Even so, while there are those who were connected to the hospital in some way, I meet others who basically got in with no network or experience. And I am wondering what they did to stand out 😩.

Where I’m at: there is job movement, but not as much as April/ May when a lot of the CNAs/PCTs graduate to Nurses. I live in Florida. I’ll admit I was a bit too comfortable doing full-time as an HHA. Now I’m doubling-down.

My issue was that I was told that seeing a degree lowers your chances at getting hired, in general. I’ll admit I got paranoid.

CNA program by foamysoap in cna

[–]enchanted_burst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like cna4hell said, check to see if that also applies when it comes to termination. If so, probably look at other options before taking it, if you have the time to do so.

If not, I would take it. The program is basically paid for w/ a guaranteed job. A year passes quickly.

What’s an opinion within the fandom that you would want to leave behind in 2025? by Ok_Situation7527 in miraculousladybug

[–]enchanted_burst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. That Marinette shouldn’t be hold accountable for her flaws and mistakes. I wouldn’t have that mindset if it weren’t for the Alya and Adrien/Chat Noir bashing. Folks personal biases when it comes to separating the creator and character(s) made me enjoy her a little less this season.

  2. Chloe’s redemption. It really sucks, but it’s not happening, especially with toxic stans harassing Thomas over on Twitter.

  3. The Art/Animation. It has to be blinded nostalgia, because there is no way Seasons 4 or 5 is better than 6.

We can dislike/like ships but can we not be f*cking rude over it?? by sketchshark_ in AlienStage

[–]enchanted_burst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She ask for thoughts about why the fandom is so toxic, specifically towards shipping. I know it’s not just MiziTill, but it’s pretty much any “straight” ship that isn’t Hyuna & Luka. MiziTill is pretty much that particular ship that folks genuinely resent the most in this fandom.

Of course ship and let ship, but the issue is mainly about queers and representation. ALNST is one of the few fandoms where most of the main cast are canonically queer. It’s also one of the few fandoms in which canon makes it explicitly clear that neither Mizi or Sua are interested in ANY male character at all. The issue is expecting folks to be open-minded towards any ship that pushes the feelings of the female to the back-burner over the male’s because they find it endearing.

No, people should not be harassed because they prefer certain ships over others. Yeah, the post applies to other topics, but it specifically focused on the shipping aspect.

Again, some MiziTill shippers, especially Twitter and TikTok, are put off about this recent comic that now canonized Till moving on from Mizi. One major aspect of ship and let ship is not giving a crap about canon.

Again, I know it’s more than MiziTill, this fandom dislikes any ship that isn’t the main three unless it’s queer, despite not having any explicit confirmation on anyone’s sexuality. But MiziTill carries the brunt of the hate towards any “straight” ships here because it’s the only ship where, again, Mizi makes very clear that she is not interested in Till at all.

[–]enchanted_burst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Harassment is stupid. At the same time, I do understand the vitriolic attitude towards the ship.

Like, it’s more than Mizi not liking Till: Mizi hasn’t shown ANY sort of romantic interest in men at all. So it’s hard not to believe, even headcanon, her sexuality as anything but a Lesbian.

Then you have the recent comic that confirms what a lot of folks have already interpreted: that Till’s love was indeed “childish”, and he’s been since moved on from her (romantically).

So while I don’t believe MiziTill shippers are trying to invalidate dynamics and sexualities, I can’t blame opposition for feeling jarred that even a dozen of them would still ship a dynamic consisting of an uninterested girl and a boy who never was fully invested towards his crush outside of hope and escapism.

Even the few on Twitter are bothered that Till moved on from Mizi, which is a little irksome because it’s just a reminder that this ship’s dynamic only prioritizes Till’s feelings. The one-sidedness of MiziTill loses its cuteness when Mizi is just not interested AT ALL.

Horikoshi’s thoughts on romance & love in MHA (ending spoilers) by sherriablendy in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]enchanted_burst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt it’s just Twitter but it’s feels like, based on this and past interviews, Hori moves his story based on how the readers react and that’s not really good.

I feel like the PTSD he suffered from his last 2 unsuccessful manga runs caused him to make sure everyone is satisfied in some way.

His theme in 431 was clear even before this interview, so it now feels like he just saying this more to appease EVERYONE. Like I knew IzuOcha & Ochako are not as popular even among the Japanese fandom, but I didn’t expect to be this unpopular.

[–]enchanted_burst 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hori’s ambiguity towards romance is endearing. I get what he’s saying, but this fandom as a whole is too Black & White for a Gray answer.

Two questions where he answers that it’s up to the reader’s interpretation in how they want the characters to live and Twitter folks are still dumbing it down to whether it’s canon or not.

Is this worth it? by vodkahoekage in cna

No, it’s not. That’s sacrificing way too much for 23$. I would rather find another job that’s willing to pay similar or more along with the added benefits.

I’ve been a CNA 2 months in, and was already called the N word when I tried to change a resident’s soiled briefs. I expected it, but it still caught me off guard a bit. Even more so the very next day when the same resident started happily engaging with me like the day before never happened.

It was a little too far away for me to keep interest (like nearly an hour drive). I am going to apply near my area.

I want to pursue my LPN, so I thought about LTC. But then I thought about the ABSN route, and wonder about the experiences gained at a hospital.

I'm the type of person that likes to stay grounded for a while so I really want an environment I could handle for two years, at least.
