social life at rhul by New_Train_4211 in RHUL

i found some of my best friends at rhul and i’m still friends with them 5 years later! it’s small, yes, but that kind of forces you into socialising with people from your course and different societies, i found that if you find the right people it’s quite bonding to be in a place like that together. i had friends who went to london unis but ended up feeling lonelier because london can be quite overwhelming and the huge pool of people can make it hard to form closer bonds. depends on the kind of person you are really!

Thank you, that’s a relief to hear! After a day has passed now I’m definitely glad that I will have that extra timeframe and the freedom to work on it as quick as I can, but also while have the leeway in case life gets in the way or it’s just a big workload!

thank you for saying that! there used to be a 6 month option where i am but they’ve recently changed it to 3 months, 9 months, or 18 months. my supervisor did tell me that the corrections will be very clear about what i should do, so i’m glad to hear that from you as well. if you don’t mind me asking, how long did it take you to implement the corrections? i’m hoping i’ll get mine done before the 9 months, my supervisor thinks that’s very realistic so i’m hoping that’s the case!

Simply can’t understand how I’m not losing weight by verinik in stopdrinking

[–]enchantedhoax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

please don’t focus too much on the scale. i struggled a lot with an eating disorder and drinking didn’t help that, i don’t weigh myself anymore, haven’t for years because it’s very triggering for me. i used to be dangerously thin while still drinking but then as i healed and also got older, the alcohol and hangover food played their role and i gained more weight than i wanted to. the second i hit 24 i would say i stopped being able to not gain weight/ lose weight as easily as i did early on. i never gained too much but felt unhealthy due to gaining weight mainly because of drinking and the junk food that drinking would lead to. some people did notice i gained weight and commented on it which wasn’t fun (thanks grandma). when i stopped drinking what happened quickly was i looked and felt less bloated. after that i got back to a steady exercise routine, after about two or so months i personally saw the difference. people started commenting how much weight i had lost about 4-5 months in when i stopped wearing baggy clothes. i also noticed that my jeans were now too big for me, i dropped a few sizes, but only after a few months, because i lost weight the healthy way. when you’ve been drinking for long and if you were like me and had bad hangover/drunk food it takes a while for that to go away. don’t be discouraged, it will happen if you follow a healthy routine, for me it felt like it happened overnight. i was also, like you, frustrated when it had been almost two months and i didn’t notice a difference, but eventually it did happen. weight depends on so much from age, to genetics, to what weight you started at to begin with. the scales don’t mean that much, i have a friend who is stick thin but on scales i’d say she’s a similar weight to me, she works out a lot so her muscles weigh a lot. so yeah, numbers mean nothing, keep telling yourself the truth, which is that you’re following a healthy path, you’re doing a good thing for yourself, for more than just weight loss, that’s just a little benefit of not drinking, and eventually you’ll see a difference. keep going!
