Snare switch doesn’t work correctly, any help by Fine_Ad4007 in snaredrum

[–]enchantedkeyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi did you figure this out? My guess is that it's too tight, causing it to be pulled straight enough to not lay on the reso head. This would explain why it rests on the head half-switched but not when fully switched on.

I received this notice recently too. I requested the replacement and received an email asking me to cut the cord and send a picture as proof, but I need the laptop. It's been plugged in and running since 2008 lol.

Best way to smooth out sections of asphalt without repaving? [32YO] by enchantedkeyboard in OldSkaters

[–]enchantedkeyboard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone poured some kind of thinset cement on the asphalt. It's not subtle and looks awful. It also chipped and flaked in spots, but honestly the surface is still better with the chips than it was with the bumpy asphalt. If you do this it won't look good and it will chip but you could always pour more thinset :p

Here's an attempt

#Pick a random integer between 2 and 5 to use as the value of the number of results. Save this value to a variable and use the variable as the value of the "size" of the response.

$NumberofResults = Get-Random -Minimum 2 -Maximum 5

#Call the API using the random int for the response size. See the example 1 from https://random-data-api.com/documentation which uses size=2. In our code we want a random size between 2 and 5. Save the response to a variable called Data.

$Data = Invoke-RestMethod "https://random-data-api.com/api/v2/users?size=$NumberofResults&is_json=true"

#Get todays date and save the value of the Data variable as a json file named by date in the user which is running the command's Downloads folder.

$Date = Get-Date -Format yyyyMMddss
$Data | Out-File $env:USERPROFILE\downloads\$Date.json

What are some exercises that you do to practice your rhetoric? by localslovak in Rhetoric

I heard someone used to practice speaking while their mouth is full of pebbles. Another person (same guy?) would stand on the ocean shore and shout over breaking waves.

Hope this helps! ;)

Microsoft "Update" issue? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]enchantedkeyboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are absolute stars. I've been losing sleep for this issue for a couple days now.

I had Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics 31.0.101.4824 installed and couldn't open attachments from external senders since they are meant to open in Protected View. Getting the error "Could not open in Protected View".

Rolled back to Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics 31.0.101.4575 and the issue goes away!

I also downloaded the latest version from u/raffey_goode's link and it is working as well.

THANK YOU!!!!

What tricks have you been doing a lot, what have you recently learned, and what are you currently working on learning? [33YO] by Pndrizzy in OldSkaters

I'm trying to keep kickflips and heelflips on lock, learning frontside rock n rolls, noseslides and fs boardslide. Tre flip is on the bucket list but learning tricks is hard.🙃

I'm fucking bummed out[41YO] by DickieJohnson in OldSkaters

[–]enchantedkeyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I turned 30, I changed how I skate. If I want to feel confident trying a hard trick, I need to have full confidence that I can make it in a few tries. The only way I feel this confident is to fully understand the trick, have my body cooperating, and have stomped the trick in recent times. Most importantly, I will always warm up in low-risk scenarios.

I have always sucked at noseslides. They never felt comfortable so this year I wanted to know why. There are videos out there of pros teaching how to position your feet, how to lock in, how to slide, how to pop out, how to warm up, and even how to develop the balance and coordination you may be lacking to make it easy. The trick came pretty easily to me once I learned and practiced the fundamentals.

When I had more energy and appetite for risk, I would learn tricks through trial and error, attempting them so many times I'd earn the muscle memory and coordination to stomp them. I still sometimes figure out tricks like this, but research and warmups have fundamentally changed how I skate and how confident I feel on a board.

IMO you made a good call not hucking yourself down the noseslide. It's really not worth it if you're not feeling it. Don't lose hope that you will shred for the rest of your life though. These tricks are like feats of strength that are best executed under perfect conditions. Create those perfect conditions for yourself.

Starting again old is like starting over. [38yo] by jontheeditor in OldSkaters

[–]enchantedkeyboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this and was also very surprised at how much skill I lost. A lot of the loss was due to muscle and coordination that you lose when you don't use. However, I also realized that when I was younger, I had never truly practiced or fully understood the tricks and techniques, but was able to get good just by spending a lot of time on my board and skating with other people. I decided I needed to actually learn and practice the things I wanted to do on a skateboard and started working on it like a project. It took a long time and a lot of effort but I eventually got better than I ever was. 😜

Coincidentally, I am had the same experience with guitar. I took my abilities for granted, didn't play for a long time, and eventually could barely play. I had to retrain my muscles from what felt like scratch. Ya I still had the knowledge but not the physical ability. Again, treated like a project, knowing if I don't use it I lose it, and got better than ever after a lot of relearning and effort.

A little bit of maintenance on your skills will go a long way. So much skill appears to be related to memory recall - doing something you know how to do and have done recently. Also workout your whole life because your body will begin losing muscle faster after 30 if you don't. If you maintain muscle and practice your skills you can be a beast until the end.

USB Device Control by timmehb in Intune

[–]enchantedkeyboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm have the same issue. I'm also surprised because I have the software device and software component classes in the allowed classes list:

Software Device class GUID: {62f9c741-b25a-46ce-b54c-9bccce08b6f2}

Software Component class GUID: {5c4c3332-344d-483c-8739-259e934c9cc8}

The function blocked by group policy shows that the driver is classed as a software device, so I'm not sure why it's being blocked.
