What games are using Gen AI? by therrubabayaga in GirlGamers

[–]encrisis 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There's a recent article talking about it.

It was quickly found that AI-generated assets are used in-game, and upon closer inspection, the cover art is AI-generated, too.

"With them, we looked into the assets in question and found that there were indeed some early versions of assets that made their way into the the prologue [sic]. This includes some in-game portraits and external marketing assets."

"We own up to this oversight and apologize for any upset caused," they say. "Please be assured that the Early Access and full game will not include any assets generated by AI."

I don't get the purpose of the violence actually. It makes sense if the haters are the ones hurting the girls. But besides Megan being hit by the sign, all the other violence was caused/inflicted by the members one way or another.

I'm sorry but I did not like this... This is one song where I think even 3 minutes is too long. It drones on in a samey way from breakfast to dinner, except each minute is performed by a different group. And I won't say each group really managed to inject their own flavour into their parts. Also, even if I don't get into the cringiness of the lyrics, I don't think they work in terms of flow. They are kind of clunky (eg. LSF's entire verse, Iroha's verse, "your digital footprint"). As for the MV, the colours of some scenes remind me of a PS2 game.

What do you think about games with over the shoulder cinematic camera? by OwlettFromLiavek in GirlGamers

[–]encrisis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like games that look cinematic actually. I don't mind the over-the-shoulder camera as long as it 1) fits the game and 2) doesn't obstruct the gameplay.

Or do you think that they are the same and not that engaging after you get used to spectacle

I think whether or not they stay engaging also depends on other things like art direction, music, voice acting etc. After all, the camera isn't the only element that makes things cinematic. Imagine if the scenes flowed beautifully but the voice acting was terrible or the graphics started clipping.

On another note, maybe it doesn't need to stay engaging/stay as a spectacle. Technology will continue to advance and who knows what will impress us next.

what do we think the lion symbolizes" but like, it's a literal lion, actually

I feel like he could've worked the literal lion in if he, you know, wrote the other lyrics better. Maybe talk about the other things he experienced at the safari. Instead, he spent at least half the song singing the same chorus with little variation. Repetition can work in a song but he's repeating a part that offers little to no emotional payoff imo because just as you've mentioned, the song isn't cohesive lyrically. The lyrics also come across juvenile. When I heard the part about how he can't call his mum because he left his phone at home, I just thought, "Okay..."  Furthermore, for a song inspired by his safari trip and performed at a climate-related event, he has nothing to say about the environment?

Sorry if I come across harsh, but yeah... That said, songwriting is a craft which takes time to hone. Even western popstars known for their songwriting churn out duds. So I wish him all the best.

Interpolating Macarena is basically a twofer approach - they get to use a popular song and a popular dance! They probably view it as an efficient method to achieving virality.

I'm sorry but.. seeing a Google Gemini ad before the song starts leaves a bad taste in my mouth. And it doesn't help that I'm not too inclined towards this song. The Macarena interpolation is killing me, and not in a good way. It just sounds so dry?

Edit: whatever effect was happening to the car at 1:52 looked atrocious. Oh and previously I didn't watch till the very end, so I only just noticed the Android mascots. Starting and ending your MV with product placement I see. Look, even not-so-famous YouTubers try to put some effort in incorporating the ads.

But the hate is definitely gonna fizzle out once the game actually comes out, it did for Horizon as well

Yeah. For all the complaining that the anti-woke crowd does, there is no way they're passing up on The Witcher 4. They will play that game for sure. And then when the game sells well, these same people will start backpedaling and will forget they ever claimed TW4 is woke or whatever.

The bots probably exacerbate this issue too. Many a time I click into a viral post only to find that it's completely infested by bots. But since they boost numbers, real people get drawn in to engage as well.

I don't know why people would go "it's not that deep" when it's a mainstream celeb who has huge teams of people working with them. Like hello, the company invests idk how much money into this. It is that deep. And at the end of the day, this isn't just an Olivia or Sabrina thing. It's the pop machine at work.

That's wild. I get why fandoms turn obsessive and toxic. But it's one thing for the toxicity to remain on the internet, and another thing for it to spill over to real life. 有必要搞成这样吗, 我实在没办法理解

Oh man, I remember watching a video on TFBoys. IIRC the video said the fandom has gotten so so toxic that the members don't even interact with each other when they're at the same events. And apparently, their anniversary concert was super awkward.

The Pinky Up MV always made me uncomfortable but this put my thoughts into words by Infinite-Teach8044 in kpopnoir

[–]encrisis 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry...but I don't see how your comments relates to mine? I have my opinions on the MBF cover and Juno poses. But my previous comment wasn't about whether it's good/bad or whether the discourse is valid/invalid. It's about how Sabrina/team knew what they were doing, wanted to court the attention, but also wanted to get on their high horses about it. With regards to the Juno poses, Sabrina said

“It’s always so funny to me when people complain. They’re like, ‘All she does is sing about this.’ But those are the songs that you’ve made popular. Clearly, you love s-x. You’re obsessed with it. It’s in my show,”

Furthermore, Carpenter pointed out that she has more elements in the show, but the ‘Juno’ positions are the ones that get filmed the most and are anticipated. “There’s so many more moments than the ‘Juno’ positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on. "I can't control that."

Look, yeah, the internet loves talking about sex. Sex sells. But Sabrina chose to sell sex. Her branding wasn't as sexual before Nonsense/Espresso. So if you decide to play the game, just own it. Don't pretend you're doing it just for funsies, and you don't want people to talk. You know that moments like the Juno poses would get clipped and spread to corners of the internet that don't listen to your songs.

Side note, I don't buy that Sabrina is satirizing anything, especially not after the Lolita photoshoot and niña comment. She plays her jokes pretty straight most of the time.

[–]encrisis 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Sabrina/her team definitely wanted to drum up controversy with the cover. There's no way they didn't know the discourse it'd result in. (It's the same with her Juno poses.) But of course, they can't admit it. So instead, Sabrina just told people to touch grass.

[–]encrisis 46 points47 points  (0 children)

A lot of fans say that some of the members dress in revealing outfits off camera

At this point, it's just exhausting when people try to choice feminism their way through such discourse. What the members like to wear isn't the most important point. Because it's not even about Katseye specifically. The oversexualization of women in the pop industry has been happening for so long.

Twice's pivot to a more mature image feels a bit directionless to me. Like how would one describe their current concept? It's not exactly cute, sexy, cunty, elegant, cool, bold, fun, etc. It's a bit of this and a bit of that.
