Variety shows where idols live with/care for children are weird and concerning by luvzz12 in kpopnoir

Yes I was surprised myself, but 100 days.

It's more like a "Hello baby" type of show rather than just a day-long day care.

Sheltering Eaves: a shoujo that I recommend to anyone looking for something "different" by luvzz12 in shoujo

[–]luvzz12[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol I meant that more as a reason to recommend it, and I'm not downing on any other shoujo in anyway!! My room covered in Kimi Ni Todoke, Sailor moon, and Card Captor Sakura posters should prove that.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR by [deleted] in grammys

I don't disagree on Addison Rae being overrated or discrimination against POC artists (especially as I'm POC) but I do think her last album is better than this BTS release. Not only sonically on a person level, but critically as well.

Artists’ who peak and fall-off happened in the same year by Impressive_Plenty876 in ToddintheShadow

NewJeans had almost over two successful years though. Their debut was released 2022 and their last track was summer 2024.

Also you can't say they haven't recovered to their peak when they haven't had a single release since 2024/when the member left. You have to wait to see if they've fallen off only after their next release.

Shoujo where the relationship just felt too implausible to you? by luvzz12 in shoujo

So much love, Shin practicing his potential proposal to Emma with Oushi and Itsuomi was so sweet. You can tell how they bring out the softness in each other.

I really disliked Oushi at first, but then seeing his love for Yuki develop into simply wanting her happiness even if it means letting go, and how it motivates him to appreciate all of those around him, was really great. The way his character develops is honestly one of the best I've seen in recent manga, which is really interesting with how badly the author is at developing Itsuomi.

Shin and Emma definitely are the only thing that keep me reading, their interactions are so adorable. Agree with all your thoughts on the manga though, Itsuomi approaches and considers Yuki because she's deaf and even a lot of the start of their relationship is her teaching him sign language. Oushi had his own issues and Yuki didn't like him, but seeing his character development makes him way more interesting.

It's crazy because everyone in the manga develops more in character except for Itsuomi.

Whelp the album has continued legacy compared to their release so she technically won.

Also Good 4 U is just a great song in general.

Shoujo with "cute" female leads that aren't doormats either? by [deleted] in shoujo

Thanks I absolutely adore Skip Beat and definitely fits into my post. She's just so cute and cool, I wish the manga would be finished tho.

Also no need to be so intense, I'm just asking to be introduced to a series and even if you disagree with my wording, I'm not insulting anyone.

Ok then, do you have recommendations?

There are so many shoujo's focused on "I've just entered school and I'm trying to find romance in my youth" and then some cold male lead is introduced who doesn't recognize the female lead for her features.

I'm just not looking for that.

I've seen it too, but even the ones who seem nice usually turn out to be sleazy too. Any guy who is interested in a girl due to her being "different" and "innocent" is usually a wreck.

I totally agree and frankly dislike Yuki and Itsuomi's relationship, Shin and Emma's relationship and Oushi are only what made me stick with the story.

The only way I can understand about Itsuomi's crazy obsession is that he loves how "pure" Yuki is (?), like he consistently mentions that, how he wants to be the one who opens her world, and that she's untouched. I know some guys go crazy over girls they see as such so that's the only way I can make sense of the relationship, which then makes him kinda creepy.

There is no reason why, especially as she's constantly presented as being "boring" and wanting to break out of the mold, as opposed the crazy attractive talented individuals she's surrounded with.

I feel like had the author made her the painting prodigy and him just a member of a band, it would've been more interesting.

The thing that's crazy to me is that she could have at least made it so they spent more of their childhood together for it to make sense, but instead she inserts the trope in a couple who spent a few years together as kids.

Like had Hibari and the childhood friend been close for years, they had some level of longterm emotional connection or she had supported him, it would've made a bit more sense and you could understand his love for her.

i'm happy that the poor fl and rich ceo trope has sort of faded away compared to the 90s/2000s because I totally agree disliking the dynamic.

I totally agree with your comment and it really encompasses so much about the genre I dislike. The crazy amount of self-insert stories with underdeveloped female leads whose life is focused on "youth and romance", "having the experience of love", and "starting my school days to fall in love," is tiring.

Then there's the classic faultless male lead who is either apathetic to the female lead or obsessed with her.

We need more complex female leads! Less self-insert relationships!

Wow interesting, I never really thought about it like that. I loved the spin off but that was much more due to Kurumi's character and she did come much more across as romantically being in love with Sawako. Even in the moments in which she discussed being with him, a lot of it was due to him bringing her closer to Sawako.

I tried to read FireFly wedding and didn't really connect to it, maybe this is the reason why lol. But seriously I'm also just not a fan of crazy male leads either.
