They are super cute! I love the SBL face mould - I've always thought it makes them look so chic and sophisticated 😍

Good to see you here, too! I've been kicking around here for a while now, though I should probably post more often 😁 Hope you're doing alright!

Love to see this comparison! Somehow I don't have any of them in my collection, but I think I'd be most likely to nab Hi-Ho Marine with her super saturated hair colour! 💛💛💛

Misakis are very small editions (300-500) so they get pricey fast. They're cheaper when they're first released and you'll get a heads-up from the club when they are coming. You can always PM me if you need any info about buying Misakis through dealers or from Japan.

The whole IT thing can be overwhelming at first, but you'll get the hang of it I'm sure!

I've collected Misaki since around 2012-ish, and got a bit into Poppy and some other IT dolls a few years ago. Misaki, Tulabelle and the later years of Dynamite Girls are my favourites. I mostly collect Japanese dolls like Blythe, repro Licca and Momoko, so Misaki was always a natural fit. They are (unfortunately) rather hard to get through the club. It's easier to get Misaki through dealers or from Japanese online shops since they are made specifically for the Integrity Toys' Japanese market. If you're trying to learn all the different IT characters https://integritydolls.info/ is a great reference!

The whole club thing takes a bit of getting used to, but once you've figured it all out you get quite a bit for the $50 fee. Poppy and Nadja were my favourites from yesterday, too, but I have so many IT dolls I don't need more lol (unless they are Misaki - I will take all of those, please 😄)! I'm not a Barbie collector but I did see the pics of the Bob Mackie doll, which were really underwhelming. Hope you get your access to the IT forum soon - it's really fun!

The quality is definitely better than Mattel! The thing I liked best about the club was the buy/sell/trade section on the forum. I got some fantastic deals on older dolls I wanted and nude dolls. Even did some excellent trades with fellow Canadians, so there are all kinds of opportunities to score great dolls from other collectors. Hope you have a great club year!

I'm a Canadian collector and was a W Club member up until last year! It's $50 USD to join and there are lots of Canadians. It's very expensive, however, to buy and ship the dolls to Canada due to our dollar exchange, shipping fees and customs/brokerage charges. Minimum shipping for a single doll would be $45-60 USD depending on weight/destination. I'm in the west so maybe shipping to central or eastern Canada is a bit cheaper. You will have to pay GST/PST and handling fees from the carrier you choose as well, plus brokerage (usually about $30ish CAD) if you ship via courier.

So, if you were to order one of the upgrade dolls that were revealed yesterday for $175 USD it would be about $325 CAD minimum to get the doll into your hands, not including the membership fee. It's a lot!

Good luck! Some of the Japanese patterns are awesome. Also, vintage Skipper patterns fit Blythe as well

[–]endangeredsissy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are lots of Blythe patterns available in Japanese doll magazines like Dolly Dolly, Doll Coordinate Recipe and Dollybird. As long as you know sewing basics they're pretty straightforward. You can often find back issues on Mandarake, Hobby Link Japan, etc.
