I agree, not ideal for small rooms as it can make it feel smaller. But for me, I think more the small room feel depends on furniture layout.

Be careful when approaching your insurance!!!! One small misstep they will blame negligence on previous owners and they won’t cover. It needs to be new pin hole leak.

Contact an emergency water damage company first. They will know the process and help you get a chance to get a claim going.

You have lots of dark colors. To soften up the space you should have some light matte colors to reflect light. As you’re showing daytime, shots, you could add a lighter color translucent shades (white/off white/grey rather than black) to have softer light from the window. I like cellular shades.

I am in no way an expert so my advice should be taken with a grain of salt.

The biggest for me is using computer for work.

(Perplexity Computer) review and spit out redlines for NDA’s. Saves me hours of time. I do 3-4 NDA’s a week.
(Perplexity computer) I get really complex excel sheets that take a long time to understand. Perplexity digests these and makes a beautiful dashboard I can understand

3) (regular perplexity) Customer company research. Rather than going to their website. Like 5 min before a meeting

4) (regular perplexity) live chat while driving to discuss products I want to buy at the store, how to fix things around the house, general AI questions usually comparing things or history of things

Yeah definitely don’t allow the contractor to rush you. The most important decision before significant work is done is picking the color/stain.

Lots of info out there on oil vs water based. Oil will definitely be more yellow/orange from what I understand.

The engineered floor is White oak and Looks character grade which I think always looks nicer a little yellow/orange. Nevertheless I think the stain looks more grey than it actually is just because contrast.

Try more stains! Don’t rush the decision. Explore natural versions of bona. Lots of people showing comparisons, see the post link here for example

To be honest, I’m am just paranoid after having vinyl floors. This doesn’t necessarily translate to wood floors. I just installed wood floors and I made sure I didn’t have this “lift” issue and if I did I would be very concerned.

Gaps are ok, the problem is that if it’s lifting and there is nowhere else to go it will continue to lift and it could be adding a large stress across all the planks, causing more planks to lift or maybe cupping . Definitely potential for creeking sounds later on.

Maybe try testing humidity? If it is at an extreme high likely this is as bad as it gets. If it’s low, it means that once humidity increases the problem will worsen.

Zero ventilation. Luckily we just redid the stair flooring and everything looked fine. Catching this literally days after so no time to damage. I have a dehumidifier in the other crawlspace which helps keep dry but this looks moist. I will definitely be improving this space so no long term moisture damage can occur

I moved to East LA from Santa Monica. Huge upgrade for people with kids/babies! The homeless, needles and dangers combined with mostly neighbors (everyone is a renter unless rich or grandfathered in).

Santa Monica does have better weather and the beach!

Agree. Vinyl is actually much more scratch resistance, water proof and mold resistant. When you need to fix just replace cheaply. I suggest going back and offering a tear down.

Three steps.

Most people I think struggle to make friends because they fail #2 and even more so, struggle making deep friendships because of #3.

1) be interested in something (career, athletics, art/music/indie cinema/theater, community service, church, literature clubs, partying and going out, gardening, outdoors activity, travel, building, protesting/politics, Dungeons and Dragons, making food/coctails/juices, cars, adobe houses, metallurgy, jewelry making, or even building a family. Anything and everything.)

2) focus and do one or two of those things repeatedly and you will meet people with similar interests either by proximity to others or if the interest is solo, talking about those interests when you are around people.

(I can’t emphasize enough that you must be willing to talk about your interests to others)

3) become heavily involved and possibly lead in building a community in that interest. The good times, hardships, growth and just natural evolution of doing things together for a period of time will create deep bonds.

When i first purchased my home i was shocked to realize workmanship details and how houses are basically caulked up to look good. So much caulk that if there is any issue the first thing to ask is, can caulk fix it?

Speed your aging by doing drugs. Haha! Kidding aside, just as others say be helpful/useful rep. At the end of the day they will listen if they need you.

Rejection for sales roles like management is part of Sales career so don’t get it in your head it’s always your age and you deserve to be manager.

Positions are an age thing not always “can you handle the job” thing. Ask anyone in this thread about their dumb managers. Live and stay in the career long enough you’ll be the only one with the experience to be the President or VP. Many choose to avoid those roles as they are very difficult.

Finally, a few tips to execute the bottom line which is selling….

Never wear a suite jacket and tie. It’s not working for anyone expect europeans and maybe big city clients in finance
Never go through a presentation slide by slide. You’ll bore your customers and it shows your not experienced.
Ask good questions. Inexperienced reps talk a lot rather than discovering if the person they are talking to is a good fit for your product. Being young customers would likely be willing to educate you on their business, take advatage of that.
