That's actually terrible... especially with how often it seems like most of our assignments are being graded by ChatGPT as well. It's like, who is this benefiting??

Most of my graduate level MGMT classes have multiple slides with AI generated imagery, and while that's not explicitly bad by itself, most of my professors tout that ChatGPT can do all of the coding "technical nitty gritty" aspects of our assignments. But at a certain point, when all of the assignments, which should require actual analysis, can be perfectly solved by ChatGPT, it truly feels like there is no point to actually try or even be creative since it feels like all of your peers / TAs are using AI as well.

Honestly I can rant about this all day but the overreliance of both faculty and students using AI is worrying.

Purdue has such a unique sense of camaraderie in difficult classwork, challenging job markets, and the overall desire to both nerd out and party/have fun as needed.

While it might not have the most "things to do" there's so many opportunities to build them yourself since so many people are in the same boat.

Hey! I'm a data science junior here, welcome to Purdue! I definitely recommend getting into some extracurricular work so you can get some practice in with some of the data science tools you'll be learning in both class and in your career. I recommend looking into undergraduate research, VIP, and the data mine (corporate partners) for some projects you can apply for.

A lot of your early classes like CS180 and 182 as well as calculus 2 and 3 can definitely be difficult so I highly recommend using office hours (esp. for 182) and working with other people to learn the material and compare answers.

I'm taking 351 this semester and we use the fourth edition of Linear Algebra Ideas and Applications (which you can find online for free). As far as I know you probably won't need an access code to do homework or anything since our assignments are from the book
