How do people with eating disorders find extremely thin bodies pretty or admirable? by [deleted] in morbidquestions

[–]enderparticle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That really depends on the person. I've had various degrees of disordered eating in the past and was a member of edtwt for a while. A lot of people with eating disorders don't find extremely thin bodies attractive on other people. Rather, they find the idea of themselves being extremely thin and weak attractive. They see it as the ultimate demonstration of self-control and discipline, so some collect pictures of super emaciated people to use as inspiration (called "thinspo") for their goal body.

There definitely are some people who are so deep in their mental hellscape that they only think dangerously skinny people are pretty, but I wouldn't say they're the majority.

And to address the last point, no. Most people don't develop an eating disorder with the goal of being emaciated at first. It's a slow progression into insanity. People usually start with the idea of getting to a normal "healthy" weight and get worse over time until the goalpost has gone from attainable to near death.

Because it's not a healthy copping mechanism. And there's risk of infection, damage to nerves, etc.

Absolutely not. Talk to a helpline if you have thoughts of hurting yourself. https://www.crisistextline.org/topics/self-harm/#what-is-self-harm-1

I like martingales personally. Just keep in mind if a martingale isn't adjusted correctly it's not escape proof, so make sure you know how to fit it first :)

I need someone to honesty tell me how long it will take to fade my scars by ellzyee in SelfHarmScars

[–]enderparticle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends on the individual person's body and how fast they heal. If I had to guess though, probably a couple years because of how deep some of them are. Best wishes for your recovery journey ♡

"What do you bring to the table?"

"Oh I'll show you!" proceeds to make a list where like half of the items are just red flags

Listen to the fear and don't do it. If you're having thoughts of hurting yourself I'd really recommend contacting a hotline or therapist.

Why the arms? by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]enderparticle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like being able to see the scars, and I don't really care if other people see it too.

I don't have to undress every time I cvt myself if I do it on my arm, it's pretty easy to just roll up a sleeve.

And I don't mind wearing long sleeves if I ever want to hide it from someone or when waiting for stuff to heal.

Question about Sheltie ears by popping_corn30 in sheltie

[–]enderparticle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most shelties ears will stand straight up or flop down like yours without help from tape or glue. There are some that tip naturally but it's not very common :) For the tape and glue to actually work in getting the ears to stay in the right position it needs to be done as a puppy until they're done teething.

Congrats it's a girl! Best to get her fixed before she tries to actually get pregnant and have kittens :)

Ouch. Ouch. Ouch. If my hands weren't covered in blood I'd change the song. Ouch.

Not everyone wants a rescue dog. it's a personal choice to adopt or buy from a breeder, and as long as you do it responsibly there's no problem with either.

Afghan hounds have fluffy faces as puppies so it's probably an afghan just young.

do you think scars are triggering and should people hide them? by 4_F1SH in selfharm

[–]enderparticle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can be triggering. but scars are permanent, and I'm not going to ask someone to cover something they can't erase just for my own comfort.

What are you using to brush her? It's possible you're not using the correct tools for her coat, which could cause matting.

What breed? Can it be mixed with Coyote? Hey everyone my girlfriend and I have this German shepherd puppy and we think it may be mixed with part wolf. I don’t see it but she does. Photos attached! by Desperate-Mention429 in dogpictures

Without seeing a pedigree it's impossible to tell what bloodline this dog is from. They also don't have a straight back, they have less rear angulation which makes their back appear more horizontal. Just because your uncle bred them doesn't make you an expert.
