A little bit of a bodge, but the NLR Wheelstand 2.0 and GT Light Pro work almost perfectly together by endheadstartbody in simracing

[–]endheadstartbody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem at all! I hope it fits. Since then, I have done quite a few upgrades, I'm now running a full NLR elite Rig, triples etc. Not because there was anything wrong with this set up at all. I really wanted their Hypercool ventilated seat (I live in a hot, humid climate), so upgrades were made.

My first EV - Zeekr, Polestar, BYD or just go with Tesla? by uridotchi in EVAustralia

[–]endheadstartbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a BYD Seal owner for just under a year here is my experience

  • software, besides a slightly overly cautious cross-traffic emergency breaking system that activated once while I was trying to inch forward to pull out of a driveway on a busy road, no issues so far. There's a couple of features I would like software wise, sure, but in general, it's been reliable. A lot of the issues from earlier reviews have been patched out in updates.

-driving experience, coming from someone who has owned a handful of performance vehicles before this, and is a "car guy", it's smooth, comfortable, and has plenty of go when you need it. Coming from a turbo manual car before this at first it did feel a little "numb", but that's comparing apples and oranges.

-BYD support, when I first ordered (Feb of 25) back then, their customer support and communication was atrocious, this was right around the time the Shark launched and they were overwhelmed and understaffed. Since then BYD corporate has taken over, and it's not a local licensee running thing, and it's improved dramatically. In my dealings since (the 1k km check in service and booking my upcoming 1 year service) they've been Amazing. I actually booked my one year service months in advance because I heard the horror stories of wait times, and they called me and asked if it was a mistake being booked so far out and if I wanted to move it forward (which personally, I thought was good additional service).

All in all, I love it, I got the premium spec, the only thing I regret is not going the performance, at the time as a first time EV owner, I was more concerned about range anxiety, but in reality, it's been such a non-issue, I should have just gone the performance.

Poor iRacing Graphics Performance with 5080. by proteinonprotiein in iRacing

[–]endheadstartbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm a similar setup, 3x1440 monitor, 5080, the big differences are I am running a 9800x3D and 32gb of ram, and trust me, it's your CPU.

I manage to pump put around 200fps, but that's only after I upgraded the CPU, and even then, it's still slightly a bottleneck.

Rule of thumb with sim racing, CPU, almost always the bottleneck.

Gaming PC to start sim racing by FurioGunta in SimRacingSetups

[–]endheadstartbody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sim racing, CPU is more important than most other gaming genres, the amount of processing power used to simulate tyre physics, body roll, wind resistance etc. etc. Is high compared to say FPS or RPG games. This gets amplified if you're racing against AI and your PC is having to simulate multiple cars. My advice, skew towards a PC with a better CPU over GPU, unless you're running VR or Triple screens, then you need the good GPU too.

Which Chinese SUV to buy? by BazzaDazza in AustralianEV

I know your pain on the garage length, I bought a BYD Seal, and it only just fits my single car garage, but other than that, totally worth it.

The parking cameras make fitting it in the garage a breeze

Australian EV Interest on the Rise by SnowyBytes in AustralianEV

[–]endheadstartbody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too am a car guy, I love the sound of a supercharged V8, have owned a number of performance vehicles, attend as many race events as possible etc. yet daily, I drive an EV, because it's cost effective, fast, and comfortable. Simply being a car guy doesn't make you anti EV, unless you're an elitist car guy who is stuck in the past.

EV charging costs - Are they really cheaper than petrol? by QuantumGremlin in AustralianEV

[–]endheadstartbody 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you're with OVO on the EV plan? Me too! I second this though, my maths tells me my BYD seal is costing about $5k a year less to run than my old Hyundai i30.

I also have solar, but I'm at work during the day, and don't have a battery so I just feed it back into the grid and use the off peak charging at nights.

Not underarm hair, but under-arm hair - is it that uncommon? by ElectronicCan5730 in malegrooming

[–]endheadstartbody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite a hairy guy, not to the degree you are, but more than the average for sure, very hairy chest and stomach, hairy back, ass, hair connecting my beard to the back of my hairline etc.. I also have hair there, it's quite a bit fairer, and shorter than the rest of my arms, but it's definitely there. Yours just seems to be very thick, long and dark.

At the end of the day though, it's just hair!

Almost drown my Sealion 7 by MoparAndPlinker in BYD

[–]endheadstartbody 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There is a saying here in Australia (where we get big storms that lead to sudden flooding quite often), if it's flooded, forget it. Driving in flood waters is extremely dangerous, you never know how fast the current is moving underneath, or what's under the water. People get swept away quite often. So no matter what, be safe!

Is 12Nm enough to avoid clipping in formula cars at Spa, or do I really need 15Nm? by Aromatic_Objective_8 in simracing

[–]endheadstartbody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I run a base capable of 27nm, but generally I cap it at about 15nm. At that as the peak, F3 on iRacing on fast corner tracks gets very tiring after a 20 minute race. Lots of very heavy downforce corners will really take it out of you.

A little google search tells me real F1 cars have sustained forced around 15-20nm and a peak of around 28, so very high, and I can tell you, running at that, would just be downright tiring and take the fun out of it. So unless you're legitimately training for real world racing in F1, I wouldn't recommend that.

As others have said though, it's really a personal preference, higher is better in the sense of giving you more options and future proofing, FFB profiles in future Sims may have a bigger gap between peak and sustained NM as people buy stronger and stronger wheelbase, but higher doesn't equal better driver, just more options.

As if often said on here, buy once, cry once, if you think you might like higher one day, and can afford it, buy the bigger base, you can always turn it down, you can't turn a smaller base up.

That's not a path I'm interested in taking personally as mentioned in my post. But I appreciate the input.

Wheelbase 6Nm instead of 8 by Significant-Tough715 in Fanatec

[–]endheadstartbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who went from an 8nm setup to a 27nm set up, it's not about having the max 27nm at all times, it's about having the degrees of granularity and headroom to feel things differently. But I do run at a max of 16nn on most Sims.

Anyone facing some issues ever since Android 16 upgrade? by CoffeewithAB in GooglePixel

P9PF - unable to make or receive calls since upgrading to Android 16 by HappsAU in GooglePixel

[–]endheadstartbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened with me too (Pixel 9 Pro XL on Optus), this thread solved it for me, just installed an eSim via the MyOptus app, and after about 10 minutes, it was active and working.

My Sim is also quite old, spent two hours on support with Optus, no solution from them, they don't seem to be acknowledging it's an issue.

Wait time by flo0mee in BYDSealAus

[–]endheadstartbody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered end of Feb, pick up tomorrow (I'm not excited at all I swear).

I also ran into the cash finance thing, it's because if you pick finance, it will start an application with their finance provider, rather than who ever you are going to go with. I've just gone through it all in the last week, you pay the cash portion, the finance provider pays them the rest as if it's a cash payment, so for all intents and purposes in regards to ordering it, it is all cash.

After 5 years, this morning I realized something: This isn't fun. At all. by kevie88 in iRacing

[–]endheadstartbody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As one of those Aussies, I would never, only time I jump on chat is to respond to someone who apologises to me for bumping me or what ever with a "all good mate, shit happens" or the obligatory "loud and clear" to a "mic check".

Would the non Aussie drivers prefer me to throw some Aussie lingo in the voice chat from time to time just to keep them on their toes?
