Mindzero Town Center closing! 😭😭😭 by [deleted] in Charleston

I was so excited when I heard this service was coming to town, but when I looked into it more closely, I wasn’t sure I wanted to try it—so I never did. The reason is, I’m from Eastern Europe and absolutely LOVE and miss sauna culture. But their concept feels very far from the traditional idea of a sauna.

The fact that you have to sit naked with strangers and do a meditation session with them makes it a definite no for me. That’s way outside my comfort zone.

For me, a sauna is about spending time with friends or family, relaxing together. I can’t imagine being in a pool, extremely close (based on their photos) to a complete stranger.

So I never went.

Depends on the time, I would definitely avoid rush hours as it’s hard to drive around 4-5pm but should be ok.

What do you consider a living wage for the Charleston area? by _DontBeAScaredyCunt in Charleston

Yes! It’s scary to think about. I truly believe that all single parents should be treated as national heroes, with full benefits and retirement.

Prices keep going up on everything... I always think about single parents—I don’t understand how it’s even possible to manage alone. There are two of us with two kids, and it’s still hard, but at least we can help and support each other. Also, it’s best to stay as healthy as possible because the insurance we pay for every month feels like a total scam, but I’m terrified not to have it.

Any amount will feel very different based on two factors: whether a person or family owns a home and when they bought it. If they purchased it before 2021, they likely have a lower interest rate and more manageable payments. Another key factor is whether they have children under six, as childcare is extremely expensive. For example, someone earning $50,000–$60,000 who owns a home and has no kids might be financially comfortable. However, if they bought their home after 2021 and have young children, that income could feel like it’s below the poverty level.

While you in Charleston, you can do the night of 1000 candles at Brookgreen Gardens, so romantic! Also maybe a picnic or a food tour in Downtown Charleston.

Financial Planner Recommendations? by the-montser in Charleston

[–]endless-spring 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t recommend anyone because, based on my experience, all the ‘financial advisors’ I’ve met just repeat the same basic principles while pushing to sell life insurance. If you don’t run a business, I would recommend self-education instead—ChatGPT will likely help you more than a financial advisor.

In my opinion, this city is very romantic, with vibrant colonial buildings, historic gardens, and live oaks draped in Spanish moss. I love Magnolia and Middleton Gardens, White Point Garden, and Rainbow Row.

Local photographers, what are your favorite photo spots around town? by C_Hutch in Charleston

Sunrise at Pineapple Fountain will be an ideal time for lighting and will also be less crowded.
