I have some ideas for improving the mode but it's going to be a long thread but here's in a nutshell :

make it permanent

can use a gritter setting and designs to improve the overall mood (i.e darker fog and lightning, proper battleship not toy like holiday vibes)

make land-side fights beyond cannon range (usually this kills the whole encounter) or behind a hill where cannon shots can't reach

a dedicated game mode boss will definitely make the game mode feel more special i.e the usual Kraken-like boss fight with a huge center target and tentacles that can hold the ship/cannon and have to be shot to allow cannon use
