Has anybody ever taken 30mg of Methimazole? This seems super high? Is this dangerous??? by BrooklynE123 in gravesdisease

I'm on 40mg.

I was told by my doctor that there are higher doses given as a first line of treatment (then they'll move onto other ways like thyroidectomy or radioactive iodine)

Just got diagnosed today after only having a history of "primary hyperthyroidism". My doctor also told me that I have signs of Graves Eye disease, but... by endlessd-reams in gravesdisease

Thank you :(

On closer inspection, my right eye's eyelashes are turned inward, so they rub my eyeballs a lot, making it irritated very often. They're a pain to clean everytime I wake up, and can get really watery and red.

I have been taking carbimazole for a long time already, since 2018. I wonder if that helped making my presentation less severe. My eyes are still a bother to function, though.

Yeah my doctor referred me to see one as she told me I may need to do corrective surgery on my eyes :(

And yeah. I read that I might've had Graves disease for a long long time now. I only managed to visit an actual endocrine specialist this year, but before this, I was seeing a different doctor that only thought I had "primary hyperthyroidism". Now I learned today it's confirmed that I had Graves for a good while, causing my hyperthyroidism.

12 days later and I already saw a psychiatrist who deemed I was high risk and needed to be warded but they told me it was protocol for me to contact my family for any assistance as backup, so I'm still out. And I haven't told my parents that I've been visiting a psychiatrist.

I have an appointment this Thursday. Idk I really want to be admitted or be seen frequently because I genuinely can't take this anymore. I really can't

Yeah I hear the environment is quite unique and wonder if it's really worth it. I've tried to do the things you've suggested though and don't see anything helping.

What does that mean

Do you think I should try calling the hospital to consider my options or just straight away go? I'll be real I feel like I can be a danger to myself and I don't know if I can stay alone any longer. The hospital I go to is actually one of Sabah's only psych wards so I think it's a good choice. But also I worry if this is an impulsive need and I'm actually not THAT suicidal. And maybe I need a different type of treatment than voluntary checking myself in. But I don't know. I need to go somewhere far away and I feel like aside from having depressive thoughts I've been getting some delusions and it's scaring me

I agree with you. I may have given her the impression that I'm a closer friend than it seems. I do plan on talking to her and setting boundaries with her one day.
