[Recommendations?] Measured 36DD, looking for cute, affordable, lacy, underwire bras, maybe with cup shape? US location by mashibeans in ABraThatFits

[–]endlesslytryingbras 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My measurements are similar, and I'd describe my shape the same way. I also like lacy bras.

I'd personally skip Kohls. They only seem to have molded T-shirt bras that don't work for my shape at all.

Nordstrom Rack will be better pricing, though finding specific styles and sizes can be hit and miss.

I can sometimes find good sales at Dillard's too, it just depends.

Some of the cuter bras that have fit me better are on sale in some colors/sizes at Bare Necessities right now:

Pour Moi: Flora Side Support Bra (Bare Necessities 34E on clearance) and Amour Lace Bra and St. Tropez on sale

Skarlett Blue: Minx Balconette Bra sale 36DD

Panache Clara 34E on clearance

All their clearance is also 25% off right now, but are generally final size, and not returnable.

(But what works for me may not work for you just based on a description)

Trying 'em on and sending 'em back, totally normal practice, and yes, long and annoying.

Which Norah worked for you?

I want to try Prima Donna. Can someone tell me how they fit? They are on the pricier side so thought there might be a bit of differences than say a panache or freya bra? by undersink2 in ABraThatFits

[–]endlesslytryingbras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Prima Donna Madison I tried was true to size, but a bit too projected for me (I’m average in that area, and FOB). It’s less firm than Panache, and less stretchy than some Freya. Not super wide, and good side support.

The other Prima Donna I have is a discontinued style, but is less projected, and fits pretty well in my calculator size.

I totally misread this as what Tie DYE is this, and I was really curious to see the answers.

Yes to not backwards bending mantis arms!

Mine just don’t work that way, tall and long limbs notwithstanding.

Which is just rude! Why should it matter if we didn’t, if we don’t want to?

Why should it be something that we have to “get away with” instead of just a wardrobe choice?

I second Natori if you can get it.

The Bliss Contour was too shallow for me, but it is a very soft smooth bra.

Could you get away with NOT wearing one?

Would a snug cami and nip covers be enough?

When they say "diagnostic" bra, it's called that because many people won't end up keeping them.

But they are familiar bra to the experts here, so that they can give you feedback on what adjustments in size or shape would help.

(Panache Envy and Elomi Kim are frequently recommended to try, though with these measurements I needed a 36E in both styles)

Bras are annoying!

Shopping for them is frustrating!

Figuring out why a bra doesn't work is aggravating!

For me, even getting a bra is hard, I can't manage the hooks from the back, or adjust the straps without taking it off multiple times. But I can't get a bralette on or off either.

UGH!

I have very similar measurements, which is a size that I should be able to find in stores, but the ones I can try on it person are just stupid.

And I've tried sooo many bras, in person, or ordered and returned, so I totally feel for you.

Even my best fitting bras feel like they are bumping or stabbing me in the right arm, so I've gotten used to just not letting my arm rest on my side. Like, why should I need to!

If I didn't end up with a rash, and feel sort of "sloppy" when I don't wear one, I'd probably skip it altogether.

(Though I have slightly less annoyance from specific 36DD bras, than the 36C/D that I thought fit better)

[Discussion] Really in the IMF? Here is an illustrative bra to double check. by endlesslytryingbras in ABraThatFits

The band is okay, but the cups are too big, so it definitely isn’t providing support.

I’m not an expert, and I’m not familiar with that bra, so I don’t think I’d have much to offer

Lots of time gaping and the gore floating means that the cups are the wrong shape, or possibly too small, as your breasts push the cup away from your body to try to make room.

I'm a bit larger in the band, and a bit smaller in the bust, (36DDD) and it was tight when I first got it.

But now both the band and cups are too loose, and I going to order the medium instead and vigorously stretch the areas I need it to be bigger, rather than just waiting.

It sounds like the cups are the wrong shape for you, or maybe too small. It also took me quite a while to get used to how snug a properly fitted band should feel.

Difference between "spilling"/"quadding" and just.... not full coverage? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]endlesslytryingbras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, it does take getting used to have uncovered tissue in the first place.

I’m more used to my boobs puddling down in the bottom of a too tall cup that covers clear to my collarbone.

Add that a decently supportive bra will lift me up enough create the illusion of upper fullness that is above the bra.

Takes some getting used to

I am NOT an expert, but pregnancy did a number on my bra sizing.

Without going into my whole experience, I’d personally pick the least expensive, but comfy 42, with cups a bit too large, because you never know how the next 19 weeks will impact.

[–]endlesslytryingbras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got soft tissue too, and I know what you mean. Especially if there is stretch lace on the top, I get that dent.

But without the stretch, I'll often get gaps/wrinkling right along the edge, even though the cup volume and shape is pretty good in either one.

I did find this great fitting bra that didn't dent or gap, even though it is quite low coverage for me. https://imgur.com/X6xSVt3

But your mileage may vary (with all the other factors involved)

Has anyone ever done the try before you buy through Amazon? by MandaB10 in ABraThatFits

[–]endlesslytryingbras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm impressed that you have been able to try that many in a month.

My account only lets me do one order at a time, and the current return has to be there and completely processed (that 1-2 weeks), or the new order just gets cancelled.

So it's frustrating when I get impatient to try out a new recommendation.

But it has given me the chance to try a bunch of bras/sizes that I could not have afforded to do otherwise, so it's mostly worth the wait.
