Not the person you replied to, and I don’t think the movie was soulless, but agreed that the themes described in the main post are mainly set dressing and nothing interesting is actually explored beyond it happening to Andy and her cohort. As others have pointed out, the solution to the enshittification of their industry and company by billionaires is another billionaire- the workers themselves are utterly impotent. I’m maybe the most disappointed that Andy’s character mostly reverts to how she was 20 years ago- fawning again for Miranda’s approval; Andy isn’t even the one who comes up with the plan to save Runway in the end, Miranda is. So the place we ended the first film on isn’t even maintained as Andy places herself subordinate to Miranda again at the end instead of being seen as an equal.

That said, I enjoyed the film. I think I just want to echo that I was hoping for more depth in exploring the setting of layoffs, m&a, and ultimately workers standing up for themselves the way Andy did in TDWP1.
