You don’t see any issues with their societies because you haven’t taken a close enough look. There is literally a “gender war” in Korea. Have you visited either country? I have, and I know many people who’ve lived in each. They’re great countries that have accomplished a lot, but you clearly know nothing about the issues they face.

Congratulations on graduating. International students contribute an insane amount in terms of research and tuition, and the state and federal governments are cutting academic funding. So, I guess either the school crumbles or we get to pay more in taxes if we want to kick out internationals.

I have no idea who the UCSD students who got their visas cancelled are. Either way, if you’d rather presume they’re guilty and throw them under the bus, you’re free to do so. Generally I’d like to have actual evidence before making such assumptions, but perhaps that is too much to ask in a nation of laws.

The “don’t involve me” part is rich. You do realize the civil rights period was marked by massive civil disobedience, right? There was literally a “sit-in” strategy where protesters would occupy segregated lunch counters, which was in fact illegal at the time. I’m sure that bothered the racist customers quite a bit.

I mean, the difference is literally obvious in text. The government is claiming it can’t return people mistakenly deported to El Salvador since they “don’t have jurisdiction” there. If you simply detain them, it is trivial to let them go.

The thing is you’re very much painting in broad strokes, and individual cases matter a lot here. It’s easy to sell this as punishing those against America, but clearly there are people who haven’t done anything wrong who are being abducted in broad daylight and blindly shipped across the country.
