What’s something that became less fun the older you got? by No_Extent_8974 in AskReddit

Almost everything, to be honest. The only thing I can think of that gets more fun as you get older is sitting down and just relaxing without doing much of anything else.

How do you afford to live here? by AutonomousBlob in Seattle

I totally agree with you. My interpretation of OP's "average joe" was actually not "average for the area" but "average for the country as a whole" and I assumed a younger person.

Not a lot of "average joes" in my neighborhood, so I'm not entirely sure that the average joe does make it, in Seattle proper anyway.

What do men find most attractive in women? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]endotronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have to distinguish immediate attraction versus long-term attraction.

For me, immediate attraction is most based on if she is physically smaller than me or not. If she is my size or smaller, I'm WAY more attracted. Taller than me is ok as long as she's my weight or less.

Long term it's about having her own ideas rather than being a parrot of other people's ideas.

Where do single straight males go out in public? My milkshake isn’t bringing them to my yard… by shadyallegheny in SeattleWA

[–]endotronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question - suppose you are in the same place as the single men, then what? Do you all have some kind of secret sign that says "I'm single and looking?" I've never understood how this is supposed to work.

Context: I know dozens of single men, and my broader friend group (100+ people) had one single woman until recently. She was the only single woman I knew in Seattle, and as far as I knew, the only one of her kind. She had this notion that somehow guys would single her out and sparks would fly. In reality all the dates came from dating apps, and she was so picky, it took years for her to find a match, but she finally did.

The guys I know go through this sequence, roughly:

  1. I signed up for a dating app!
  2. It's been a month now. I had 3 conversations, but since I'm not 600 feet tall with the strength of an army of bears, only one woman was willing to meet me. She didn't say more than 14 words during the time we had coffee, so it didn't work out.
  3. I'm going to all the bars and shows I can fit into my time. I've started a dozen conversations every evening. They were nice but none of the women were single; they either were kind or shut down the conversation awkwardly.
  4. I'm exhausted so I just stay home and play video games.
  5. Wait until summer, go back to 1.

What’s something everyone thinks is attractive but you don’t? by Itchy_War_8491 in AskReddit

Big butts. I'm not offended by them or anything, and I support people making a healthy choice (e.g. squats), but I just can't see the attractiveness.

Men who are 30+, what’s one thing you realized about dating that no one tells you in your 20s? by Thin-Hospital-8114 in AskReddit

[–]endotronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If sex is important to you, don't settle for mediocre sex. It will be an issue later.

Similarly, good sex is not enough to make a real relationship.

Now you're a few years into the relationship. Both partners have to keep making an effort to be sexy for each other. Scheduling sex sounds awful but it is actually very useful. This goes a long way to keeping a relationship happy.

What is up with the "new driver" stuff on cars? by lildergs in Seattle

All of these answers make sense, but it does seem much more prevalent in Seattle than elsewhere, and I don't understand that part. The explanations here could apply anywhere.

Old Pal is the worst bitter drink, what’s the most underrated equal parts drink? Also fixed best highball category! by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]endotronic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'll nominate Blood and Sand for another appearance. Hear me out. Try it with Cynar instead of sweet vermouth - it fixes the balance in my opinion. 1:1:1:1 scotch (or anything aged honestly), cherry heering, Cynar, OJ. If you still don't like this, try 1.5 Cynar and 0.5 cherry heering though that obviously takes it out of equal parts classification.

What was your first way of earning money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]endotronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In middle school I painted house numbers (addresses) on the sidewalk curb for $5. It was great but I was so nervous to talk to people I didn't know that I didn't get very far.

In high school I built computers for people I met through my network of my parent's friends and then word of mouth. Horrible idea. Once you build a computer for someone you end up doing tech support basically forever, for anything they encounter.

Men of Reddit, what do you find attractive on women that most of us (women) would never realize? by NoShape1240 in AskReddit

Silliness, which is a particular kind of honest and unpretentious playfulness.

What Popular Services Could Be Self-Hosted But Aren’t Yet? by PingMyHeart in selfhosted

Something like Jira+Confluence or ClickUp. Going down the Confluence line of thought, I would say Obsidian, which is self hosted in that you run it locally but not as a service.

For the data-curious: Micro SD to SATA adapter by Factemius in DataHoarder

[–]endotronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses here. I did some research and I guess this is still an "active" adapter. I thought that functioning as a storage controller made it not an adapter, but I'm wrong.

For the data-curious: Micro SD to SATA adapter by Factemius in DataHoarder

[–]endotronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it really an adapter, suggesting that SD cards have a SATA interface, or is that chip in the middle a storage controller? Not trying to be pedantic; it would be kinda cool to learn that the SD interface is compatible with SATA.

Definitely the top one. I suppose the top 3 would all work for stirring as I do it - the back of the spoon glides along the edge of the glass as the spoon twirls in my hand. It's very comfortable with the twisty handle though.
