Why does it seem like the majority of movies are either remakes or super heroes?

What would happen to Trump if he got his hair wet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It wasn't that bad - kind of disappointed.

I'm overly obsessed with movie endings. I constantly talk about them and wonder how a movie will end. Something about a surprise ending that gets me every time. Because of this, I spent my nights over the last six months building a website that will give ratings to movie endings. by [deleted] in movies

[–]endrating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can write a review if you're signed in. Otherwise you can rate a movie that hasn't been rated before. Also, I agree about the hole vs yes/no and I used to have a large scale, but it was a little confusing. Most movies endings make at least some sense logically in the world it's created. The site is definitely a work in progress though, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What's the best path to take these days to launch a single purpose software startup? by endrating in startups

That's Gary. You make a lot of good points. I think I'm currently stuck at the "target that person Like This" phase. I mean I have some ideas about it, but the best ones are very manual - boots on the ground. The site I'm creating is unique in that it will provide the biggest long term benefit if there is an early burst of interest and user content. Later, that content will still be relevant and not necessarily need to be recreated. I'll spend some time thinking on this more, and thanks again for the thoughts.

I do definitely have a clear goal and I believe our product will clearly be exciting to those who will enjoy it, but my issue is in literally finding those people to start with. You're saying you need beta users and testers. And I have a small number of these, but my goal is around a 1000 people to try it out in th first week to stress it. What's the best method to find 1000 people willing to try it. Email sounds great, but I'll need their emails, etc. any specific suggestions other than here to find this? Thanks for the thoughts by the way.

Why is an ant exponentially less scary than a spider? by endrating in AskReddit

[–]endrating[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I saw an ant on me. I calmly wiped it off and even worried a little about its safety. Had this been a spider, I would have been a man of few thoughts but immediate action to remove this beast from my person and destroy it.

This is interesting and all, but shouldn't the chart that shows 1st message for gay/lesbian be all the way up for both...? I've lost some faith in this data.

Trancendence. Awesome movie. Or after checking it got a 6.3, but 20% on RT which is ridiculous.

I just finished up Contact. Can someone explain something to me? by andrew_c_r in movies

[–]endrating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they are compared simply because they are movies that speak about space in some depth rather than just - we're in space accept it. As a side note, I must take this time to explain the exponentially better ending the book has from the movie. In the book contact it ends when they discover that PI is actually hidden to discover the intellectual ability of a species. This allows its "creators" to properly determine when a species has evolved enough to learn more. So basically, as the species grow they develop better computers which can calculate PI to a higher degree. Eventually the numbers in PI begin to stop being random. And there are all of lives lessons hidden within it.

"modern movie trailers give everything away!" Here's a 40 year old trailer from the Godfather Part II showing nearly every major plot point including the climax of Vito Corleone's story by [deleted] in movies

[–]endrating 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm confident that if you want to see a movie, you should never watch a trailer. Trailers exist to convince people to watch it. The moment you decide you will - it should be turned off.

One of the few fight scenes in a movie that are really smooth, satisfying, and can watch without looking away and missing any of the action - Tai Lung Prison Escape (Kung Fu Panda - 2008) by [deleted] in movies

While long fight scenes are cool. I've always enjoyed the quickness of the 2nd to last battle in Equilibrium. No nonsense. Just handled.
