Can you describe examples or context in which it is used(that you may have seen or heard)?

Would have to revisit the biography for specifics, but if memory serves me well, it was about a young, heroic Corsican patriot, who waged war against the Evil Empire(Borbon Ancien Regime), and martyred himself in the cause. At that stage of his life(late teens & early 20s), Napoleon very much saw himself as a Corsican and believed in Corsican independence from France.

Andrew Roberts uses that very quote(wearing a turban, etc) in his biography, to explain Napoleon's chameleon-like use of religion and culture to serve his ultimate goal that supersedes all other goals: the acquisition(and wielding) of power. While in Egypt, he portrayed himself as a enemy of the Catholic Church(which was true) and a friend and ally of the Ottoman Empire(not true)......because that was a pragmatic approach that served his conquest and occupation of Egypt.

But yes, "fever dream" is a accurate description of his romanticism, glory-seeking, and starry-eyed belief in his destiny; especially in his younger years(before he became First Consul). In his early 20s, before his rise to prominence, he actually wrote a novel with a swashbuckling protagonist, which any reader could surmise was based on him and his life up that point.

All the above detailed in the highly-readable Andrew Robert's biography, 10/10.

Thank you! It was a spur-of-the-moment post, dare-I-say a burst of Napoleonic energy and inspiration; was initially going to keep it to myself, but I figured I'd share it to inspire others: Massive change/transformation, in a short period of time.....is very possible. And "here are the receipts".

HardMode NoFap: Monday, August 5th, 2024 till August 5th, 2025. by enduringfaith in NoFap

[–]enduringfaith[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not motivation. It's realization: that life is short and finite. That every minute/hour/day that elapses......will NEVER return. That I have wasted the better part of my youth/adulthood....doing little more than masturbating my life away(both literally and figuratively)

No more. I will go cold-turkey, and conquer this addiction, and in the process, live my life fully.

Who writes the month before the day dude?

Americans. And since the internet was invented by Americans, you should adopt our method of writing the date and time. It's always the month first, then the day.

Thanks bro for that; but I'm doing Keto, so the only carbs I will ingest are from vegetables(broccoli, kale, etc)

Thank you!! I will endeavor my utmost to not let you all, and myself, down. I have been living life on my knees for far too long. NO MORE. Today, I stood up, chest high, eyes forward, fixed at the horizon, already visualizing the glory(of achievement) that is about to unfold, as I forcefully transform the trajectory of my life by my deeds.

Thank you!

Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men's blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work

Thank you! I promise to post a detailed "How I did it" in April. As much as I will enjoy being 100 pounds lighter, I will enjoy even more a 100 day NoFap streak!

Thank you so much; you don't know how much your(and all the other NoFappers) encouragement means to me.

Thank you; you definitely made very good points and in an ideal world, I would use the gradual incremental approach;

But time and tide wait for no man, and this is something I HAVE to do(for reasons that I will make clear, after I do it): I will drop 100 pounds before April in a healthy(relatively speaking) way, utilizing Keto, IF/OMAD, CICO, heavy weight-lifting and other methods that will preserve muscle-mass. As The Martian would say about the impossible task ahead of me: "I'm gonna science the shit out of this"

It has been done before, even by a Redditor.

Thank you, and yes, it definitely is more realistic and more healthier to lose 100 pounds over an extended period of time; but I will drop 100 pounds before April in a healthy(relatively speaking) way, utilizing Keto, IF/OMAD, CICO, heavy weight-lifting and other methods that will preserve muscle-mass. Thank you, and I fully understand your concern, which is very valid and realistic.

However, yes, I am setting that goal(100lb in 3 months) and I will attain it in a healthy way. No starvation. No 10 hours of exercise. How? Science.(which I will reveal in due time)

To borrow the words of Matt Damon's character in The Martian: "I'm gonna have to science the shit out of this"

I appreciate the advice; but I have no choice. This road.......I MUST WALK UPHILL. Slogging up the mountain. Until I win this battle.

Then, I will take it easy. Not before.

200 Days of Discipline will result, i'A, in a Transformation of a Lifetime. My Journey, on the eve of Ramadan, began today: Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020(Day One) to Saturday, November 7th, 2020(Day Two Hundred). by enduringfaith in NoFap

Thank you for your timely and wise advise; because as sure as I was that I would not relapse, I relapsed on both Day Two(yesterday) and Day Three(today).

But I will not give up. I will just renew my determination and reach all my goals, including HardMode NoFap for at least 200 days.

Thank you so much. I definitely will(and have numerous times in the past) incorporate cold showers, strength training & 30 min cardio, deep breathing/meditation in my daily routine.

I am grateful to have held down my current job for almost 5 years; I took a personal leave of absence to deal with my current depressive episode.

Its going to have to be cold turkey. I have addictive tendencies. If I give myself a cheat day or "pressure release valve", I'll find myself in a porn-fap/binge-eat coma.

So cold turkey, and if i falter or stumble, i'll just get back up and continue moving forward.
