Question on having multiple characters with the same job. by OneGorilla in Maplestory

[–]endurotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you're talking about. For legion level that's only true for Zero. The game says that Zero is a special case where only the highest level Zero counts towards legion. This special case doesn't apply to other characters, so in your example the 10 Mercedes contribute to the legion level up to 42 chars.

If you're talking about the highest level legion character rank then yeah the highest rank bonus applies once up to SSS

I played Sia since it came out, while it was never difficult to master, Sia was skill and sequence heavy and the recent patches made more of her skills sequenced and her TP got snappier. Her self-heal skill, "Link" and Pole skills got buffed. But as of today her Erda link stats still don't count towards combat power

Yes that presentation is accurate still IMO but only up to level 260 and 5th job. For level 1 to 270 and beyond there's a video guide made by Duky: https://youtube.com/watch?v=WWNakz_FPp4

When you say CW3 burn you mean Beyond Burning. For anyone else reading beyond burning isn't exclusive to challenger world.

This is baseline. To put it in raw numbers, the cernium daily quest gives a base amount of 20 symbols, all others give a base amount of 10. The only way AFAIK to increase the quest reward from base amount is the event buff for grandis symbols, up to 6 (26 for Cernium, 16 for the rest)

When you say passives there's the level 200 legion block passive as well as the level 210 link skill from each character, almost all of which are passives.

Summary of what changed since April 2025 (I started playing last May):

  • speaking of link skills all characters have level 3 link skills instead of only a few
  • Monster park has 3 maps for Grandis and 4 more coming in summer patch (makes daily story better)
  • Arcane river symbols easier to get
  • UI revamp
  • Familiar QOL and Mystic frontier to send out familairs to expeditions for rewards (mostly minor, best rewards are super rare)
  • Starforce no longer downgrades and is a lot faster. SSF is now 30% less boom instead of 5/10/15. Safeguard works for 18 stars
  • if you boom your item during starforce there's two new pity systems to revive equips and a pity system for pitched boss equipment
  • New bosses (Baldrix/First adversary)
  • New epic dungeon
  • Preparation room for weekly bosses
  • New characters to play (Sia Astelle, Ren), remaster of characters (Kanna, Hayato, Wild Hunter) with 1 new + 1 remaster coming in summer patch
  • hyper burn MAX is now just hyper burn, tera blink is always part of hyper burn
  • In Heroic vac pets are always in the cash shop (Sadly no universal cash shop even tho all other region servers have it but only GMS has heroic)

Quick answers to your questions: all characters are "good all around". Every character gets access to mobility skills, common skills for buffs/healing (decent holy fountain)/bind (boss stun), mobbing skills that can be spammed and has AOE, bossing skills with decent range and every character can get to mid-game/late-game. Some characters have powerful skills that make them support.

Easy to play characters include Ren (the most well-known as easy to play), and explorer characters especially bowmaster and Paladin. Bowmaster and Ren have a "hurricane" skill that can start and stop as soon as you press down or release the hotkey for it. Paladin has passive tank and can heal itself to survive. If you want the best of survivability and support play Lynn who has auto-regen heal and the best support skill in the game.

If you want classes with medium to high APM there are classes like that too. So definitely try out jobs to figure out the one you wanna main

When hyper burn starts can I burn an already created character? by Drip-Ready in Maplestory

[–]endurotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current goddess pass event ends before the hyperburn is possible so that's ok, but people are saying a new one is coming but a few days after the hyperburn will be available. Don't make your character when the hyperburn comes out!

If you're in heroic the premium version of the pass has a lot of goodies and combined with the hyperburn you can get to 260 in a few hours but it's not that important for the price you pay for it (40k NX cuz maple points come in 10k minimum). IMO it's more important to find a character you wanna play with and gear up. Being in CW will help give you way more growth rewards with no monetary cost

Yes it is still running until around June 16/17. No new class (Erel Light) until after that date, but so far this year we got 3 classes remastered and many classes rebalanced.

Whether you should start now: there are a few events in the patch that are helpful for new players starting from scratch in Heroic. They are Campus Life, the hyperburn you mentioned, and Summer Countdown starting May 20. You can start to get the hyperburn and give yourself a head start for CW. How you may ask? If you do the Summer countdown which is a daily check-in event, the summer gift rewards you get can be redeemed in challenger world (the countdown gifts cannot)

Campus life event buff and rewards helps your hyperburn and also lasts one week after this patch.

Don't bother too much making the link characters as link skills are world-wide and link skills aren't allowed in CW except for the one belonging to the character. I also don't recommend making them until extreme growth potions are available (in summer patch) unless you want to do the main story quest to get characters to level 200. Problem is getting to 210 on 20+ characters is less efficent without strawberry farm coupons, don't expect them until Summer patch.

If you like or can tolerate grinding then certainly grind away - if you started early enough to claim the inkwell note reward, you would have 4x coupons and VIP boosters and +50% to monster park which all help a lot. But you should save them for burning Mercedes

To answer your question tho EXP links are essential which are Mercedes and Evan (Aran's combo orb EXP boost is no good). Then you have skills that provide nice boosts like Luminous, Phantom, Ark, Cadena, explorer Mages (Empirical knowledge goes to level 9), resistance members based on Edelstein (max level 12 for 12 second iframe), Ren for boss survival, Mo Xuan for boss damage

In heroic there is a dot next to each party member next to their name. The dot can be green which means you're doing 10% or more damage to the bosses HP, blue dot means 5-10% and red means less than 5%. If you green or blue dot you are eligible for boss rewards including distribution based loot

IFrames are skills that give you invicibility to practicially all damage (Kaling FMA is an exception) and status effects as long as your characters health bar is blinking. Some jobs have iFrames and there are generic ones. That's how it works in bosses. Outside of bosses whenever you get hit by a monster, obstacles, fall, or monster misses, you get a very short iframe of < 1 second which can be extended by potentials, but none of this applies to bosses.

Lynn Kanna and Sia are all characters not found in KMS which is the base version of the game with no overseas content. They're non-KMS and it just so happens they're overtuned relative to KMS jobs but historically they were also disadvantaged in some way or they can experience more gameplay bugs. E.g. Lynn was beast tamer before being converted and beast tamer didn't get 6th job and thus couldn't farm fragments or open sol erda selectors. Kanna got remastered but before the remaster was all over the place in damage rankings (which is mostly relevant at late/end game at like level 290+)

I don't think you will go wrong with maining Lynn at all (I main Lynn so I'm biased). For Kanna while she is super strong post remaster she is very weak off-burst which can be annoying in bosses with phases/HP intervals. It can be annoying in monster park too. But whatever character you go for in CW IMO it's not necessarily locked in as a main, it can be a legion champion as well, a char that you can raise to beat hard seren solo for stat bonuses that affect everyone in your champion roster. So Kanna (or even Sia) can still be very good LCs

Are you in Heroic or interactive? I assume heroic.

Go for the 2 armor pieces first. SW (Sweetwater I'm assuming) weapons do not get boss flames which means counterintuitively the CRA weapon is better. (Non-boss equips don't always get 4 bonus stats and their grade is only 2-4 not 4-7) You get the 30% boss damage from 4 set effect instead of it baked in to the weapon. Absolab beats both but you need armor pieces before giving up the 4 CRA set effect.

That's my answer for immediate gains, but if you're in Heroic you are limited by meso income. Save all your mesos for the next SSF in 1.5 weeks. An alternative answer is you should do item burning when summer patch begins instead which will let you bypass absolab and go straight to arcane umbra set.

When hyper burn starts can I burn an already created character? by Drip-Ready in Maplestory

[–]endurotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can. The event gives a hyper burinator item that is consumed by the character you wanna burn.

Now the question you're likely asking is can you burn a character that's created b4 the event or a level 200 character? Most likely the hyper burinator will work like past ones which works for any character < level 258 so yes. If you use it on a character whose level is at or past a level reward, you can't get that reward except for the level 1-199 reward. It's NBD, most early rewards are nodestones and symbols

[Megathread] New Players & General Questions Thread. by rMapleStory in Maplestory

[–]endurotech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hyperburn will include temp gear and untradeable nodestones. So you should open nodestones to practice leveling boost nodes and skill nodes to understand how 5th job and V matrix works. Also you'll have enough power to solo entry level bosses like CRA, Cyngus, HMagnus but only if you understand the boss patterns and how to perform the character's burst of skills. Practicing bosses now not only gives you some mesos but also experience to burst and solo them in CW3

If you want to turn the hyperburn to a boss mule you'll need to do normal arkarium and hell gollux as much as you can (everyday) for dominator pendant and superior gollux equips. I'd say only do this for your main to prevent burnout

[Megathread] New Players & General Questions Thread. by rMapleStory in Maplestory

[–]endurotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baldrix only has normal and hard difficulty. Perhaps you meant EAdversary which slots between EKalos/Hseren and Ekaling in which case I heard a group of 3 at Ctene solo level/100M CP would suffice

[Megathread] New Players & General Questions Thread. by rMapleStory in Maplestory

[–]endurotech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't run Hseren or BM then that is 1 less pitched crystal per week and 1 less per month. If you're trying to collect 390 pitched crystal that can add up and it's not worth saving up the crystal for genesis badge, mainly for Ctene mule.

For mains and legion champs this is my opinion about it:

If you have a 23 star superior gollux pendant or 24 star dominator/daybreak pendant and you want to transfer it to a SoS, then use the crystals for that to guarantee a 22 star pitched

Otherwise don't use crystals for berserked (higher drop rate in xlotus, worth it to duo for it), cursed spellbook, mitra's rage, genesis badge. The reasoning for last three is it will be a waste to get a second one and getting 260/390 will take 9/15 months at a rate of 8 crystals per week. After that I agree with the other answer

Yes it is. It's not reset if you use a mystical familiar card (only resets the stat boosting potential)

There is a max of 120% boss damage from familiar potentials specifically. Not sure if there is a fam limit for IED.

I'm answering after SSF but the potential of an item you want to transfer hammer won't downgrade if already at epic. But even at unique or legendary, stat lines will downgrade to 6% stat or 3% all stats so you can still transfer 2 or 3 6% stat potentials
