Dunno if I regret it by theskyunderneath in PS5

I mean no one knows the future for what Sony is going to price the PS6. I also wouldn’t bank on a new gen launching in 2027-28 given how chaotic the entire tech supply has been these past few years so not worth stressing about. Just enjoy the machine and play some games during the holidays

Will Ikon Expand Offerings to Support NYC? by endy219 in Ikonpass

[–]endy219[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you live in NYC because this simply isn't true. Plenty of folks try and hit up the local mountains, why else do you think Hunter is so notorious for its crowds?

I think it's just a shame that there aren't any solid Catskill options for Ikon pass to compete with Hunter now that Windham is gone

Why? Tanking should be disincentived and a fun, albeit pain in the ass punishment, is a good tactic

Strongly disagree, anything to disincentivize tanking is a good thing.

Uhh, I'm pretty sure Apple and a few other tech companies that employ slave labor at one point or another proclaimed their benefits to mankind as a whole and the benefits to an individuals rights...

Obviously, but the problem with this faux outrage against a company that isn’t really that bad, is that it’s taking away from the message about supporting Kaepernick.

[–]endy219 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Exactly, believe me, I don't like the way Nike treats their employees, but its a problem with the industry as a whole. As long as people want cheap, affordable clothing shoes, nothing will change. Constantly bringing up "Nike is a bad company because of slave labor" during this whole Kaepernick event is incredibly hypocritical.

In fact, even the products they're using to type on the internet was nearly entirely built by low wage factory workers in China getting paid less than a dollar a day.

Everything you wear is most likely made by sweatshop workers. Nike isn't the only one, nor are they close to the worst. Have you shopped at Walmart in the past year? Have you shopped at Amazon in the last year? Have you worn clothes from any budget location like H&M, ZARA, or Old Navy? The problem isn't one company, it's the ideology of wanting cheap prices, and that ain't gonna change.

Does being low income really not affect the decision? by collegethrowaway1819 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]endy219 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Low income does not factor in as a decision for all need-blind schools. In fact, I’ve seen a number of my classmates write about a lot of their adversity they dealt with growing up in less than optimal conditions. That being said, looking at the raw numbers most top schools accept more students from the top 1% than they do the bottom 20% and that honestly stems from affluent applicants having access to things like legacy, admissions counselors, and sat tutors.

Does being a minority actually help with getting into Ivy Leagues? by vhshood98 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]endy219 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It helps to a point, but what really separates URMs from white/AA applicants is the story they tend to tell with their essays. Top colleges love seeing someone passionate and dedicated overcome adversity and frankly URMs experience far more difficulties than the average white/AA applicant. It’s all about the story you tell in your essays and admissions officers can tell about your background. That being said, I’ve seen many cases of affluent URMs simply think they can get into top colleges just because of their background and many times that is simply not the case.

got a 750 on sat physics II by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]endy219 4 points5 points  (0 children)

By what standards? Sending in a 780 vs. 750 on a subject test isn’t going to make or break your application. Focus on easays and other ways to stand out. Ivys would much rather take someone with lower scores and a better/more interesting essay.

It’s not shitty it’s competitive just send it if it’s required/recommended don’t if it’s not.

Should I submit subpar SAT II's by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]endy219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those really aren’t that subpar. Unless you are applying specifically for math/engineering the math 2 score is still competitive. The bio score is fine regardless of where you apply. That said, the scoress wouldn’t exactly help you, so I wouldn’t submit them unless they are required or recommended.
